My appeal got rejected because of "special symbols" in the description.
I can't find any symbols, that would violate the Wayspot criteria or guidlines
(i didn't use emojis or anything like that)
Does anyone know, what they are refering to?

Was this a rejected appeal or was it just a regular review?
It was a rejected appeal.
The first submission was rejected for not beeing safe to access.
I appealed it, because the wayspot is inside a puplic park, next to a footpath.
Special symbols probably refers to those brackets. But it seems you got a lousy Niantic appeal reviewer. Brackets even!?
Could you post a screenshot of the nomination showing appeal text and your text?

I had an appeal rejected for the exact same reason. I thought it was ridiculous. I had a pound sign for #1 in the description because the location says they are "#1 in fun". So if I had said "number one in fun" instead, the nom may have been ok just based on appeal message.

I honestly don't know why people asked for screenshots when the text and supporting photo were already provided in the original post.
Because the screenshot tells more that could have been missed or left out intentionally or on accident.
Update: The Wayspot just got approved!
I just went for a rainy walk through my local park
and got pleasently surprised when i saw my newly approved
Wayspot greeting me at the end of my route.
Definetly made my day. 🤗
