My nominated stop was approved in September it has yet to show in the game . Is there anything I can do to fix it? I renominated it and it was flagged as a duplicate.

The most likely explanation is it doesn't meet your game's inclusion rules e.g. Pokemon Go only allows one stop per S2 cell - if you do an internet search for s2 cells that will give a better explanation - Pokemongohub has a good article.
Hello! As mentioned by @Faversham71-ING, despite the language used by the game you’re not nominating a PokéStop or Portal.
You are nominating a Wayspot to go on to the Niantic Map which then may become a Portal and/or PokéStop if it meets inclusion rules for that game. Your email alludes to this:
Remember that not all accepted nominations will appear in all Niantic games (and may take up to 48 hours to appear)
As it was already accepted and was placed on the Niantic Map, it already exists in the database so was correctly marked as a Duplicate.
If you are able to share coordinates we will be able to provide further insight.
Southwick Lake Estates and Emerald Hills Sign are in the same cell. Only one pokestop can be in a cell.
