When is Niantic going to ban bad reviewers?
It’s literally the 3rd time this month that I was done with this wayfarer trash but this is getting ridiculous.
I’m trying to map a walking trail in the area so I can make it a route.. Just to have my waypoints denied as double, while the first one is 100 meter away from the other one and the second at least 50.
So not only I’m getting screwed over by pieces of trash while doing my nominations, I’m also getting screwed over for painstakingly checking if the trail markers are correct instead of just smashing the double button and wasting my time without getting rewarded for it.
I’m now 100% done with this community until Niantic starts to ban people that rush through nominations.

Whilst I can see which wayspot the first one was marked as a duplicate of (and can confirm from the pictures that it's not the same object), I will say that you could've maybe helped yourself a bit by giving them all more unique names. Having dozens of wayspots that all have the exact same title probably isn't going to help you when it comes to bad reviewers.
There's a guidance to give unique names to each wayspot, otherwise if you say "Let's meet at Breinpad" each one will go to a totally different place
To be honest, you're the one who had higher chance to be banned instead if the bots were accepting yours.
Which reminds me, did Niantic successfully decimated the number of NL review bots?
To note Niantic has moved completely away from categorical eligibility and has left it to the "best judgment" of the reviewers on whether something is eligible. Thus, the burden is on you as the nominationer to show that the nomination is unique or represents a unique location. Also, remember that the purpose of Wayfarer is to create a database of interesting objects and locations and not to get as many "stops" as possible. If you are trying to nominate every marker on a trail, think about how that marker represents a unique place or section of the trail and convey that to the reviewers. After all, the marker itself is not the eligible candidate, but the trail is.
For some reason it won’t let me post my post where I quote somebody with added pictures, but I even had trial markers that were numbered on the trial marker, denied for being double or other reasons. So while I understand where you’re coming from, this doesn’t work in practice.
Also with the point that it is by “best judgement” that means it’s basically just a lottery where you have to hope to find people that judge it interesting..
Also 99% of trail markers aren’t next to something interesting, however like you said: the trial is eligible. Also if the marker is next to something interesting, why nominate the marker instead of that what’s actually interesting?

Any images that are embedded in a post must go through moderation. I think only the Ambassadors are immune this this.

A well-constructed nomination is more likely to pass reviewers than a basic nomination that relies entirely on "at one time Niantic said so". However, instead of relying on "Niantic said so", you should instead look at the reasons a trail marker. Niantic did give a reason, though it was a fallacious one based on circular reasoning. And because of that fallacious reason, some reviewers won't accept them. Perhaps you can come up with a better, more convincing reason instead.

Because nominators are too hyper-fixated on the "tree" that is the trail marker they end up missing the "forest" that is the interesting location.
It pops back up when I refresh the page nor does it say it needs to be moderated (like when you open a topic).
I can understand the bit that the description could be better, however that doesn’t change my other issue.. The fact that every time I have to review a trail marker I make sure to check if it’s even there, if the location is correct, if the picture is correct, sometimes editing the location and sometimes editing what it is…
Apparently for others to just deny it because that takes less time and is also a 50% chance (seeing my acceptance rate) on getting 1% towards an upgrade.
And my assumption was that some POI’s are an 100% pass, while those that aren’t specifically named are up to the voters discretion..
Its now literally a lottery weather your nomination gets accepted and weather you get awarded for the time reviewing…
I had one denied, uploaded it again and it got accepted, with the same exact pictures and text, it’s pathetic.
Guess it would be more time efficient to grind an other account up to lvl 40 and do twice the nominations.
Or just deny everything that isn’t absolutely awesome 🥲
I get your point but I don’t want to randomly number the trial markers..
Not that that works because even when the real object is numbered I still have to deal with the same ****.
Niantic should start to give longer bans to people that are trash reviewers, until then it would probably be more time beneficial to make a second account and grind that to lvl 40 so I can do twice the nominations.
Niantic is not going to ban reviewers for having a different view than you on the eligibility of trail markers.
Keep in mind that many "mosaic tiles" have been removed in Netherlands, and in some cases they banned for 30 days the persons that sent those nominations.
So it's not always clear what is a 5*
A lot of them were fakes (half of them I encounter reviewing I cannot find), like with the stolpersteine and trail markers I always make 100% sure that it’s at the location where it is. If it’s off my more than a few meters I adjust the location or decline it for incorrect location because for trail markers you need them to be in the absolute correct position since they are small.
If it isn’t in the second picture and the second picture doesn’t match up with streetview/satellite I decline them..
But apparently it’s a waste of my time since (from my own experience) half of them get declined anyways… 🥲
Even Niantic had removed many "trail markers" similiar to yours no matter you've tried to correct their location during review. So even if the trail marker you've submitted got accepted, it'll likely be instantly removed by Niantic and you'll receive up to 90 days ban at worst. Without any warning.
If it's not worth your time then try taking a break from Wayfarer. At least until Niantic has completely done against the bots.
Then the issue is with Niantic with not being clear on what should be accepted, what shouldn’t be accepted and what is up to the reviewer.
like I said before, some get accepted, some don’t get accepted and those that got denied were accepted the second or third time I submitted them.
There’s 0 logic and I’m not going to spend my time reviewing just to have half of them not being an agreement because of random opinions and have my upgrades wasted by randomness.
I have the same issue, mine got denied by reason " fake fotos from internet, damn that, I take it with my own Camera, for better quality and I got this
Yeah because a lot of them are fakes, which is why I always checked if they were actually there.
However when Niantic apparently couldn’t care less about people taking it serious and just accept random ****, I’m not even going to bother to check the location. Why would I spend the time reviewing carefully when I get more rewards for my time when just rushing it.
To prove my point, again (yes it’s scratched up, but it will be repaired within a couple of months)
Thank god we got fast review times, but it literally feels it’s monkeys smashing a yes and no button.
As it hasn’t yet been said,
Guess it would be more time efficient to grind an other account up to lvl 40 and do twice the nominations.
Note that this is against Niantic’s terms of service @TheDutchestPony-PGO
However, you can play Ingress and get to level 10 which allows you to have 40 nominations extra.
Does that with ingress work? Couldn’t be assed **** a second pogo account but ingress is quite easy to lvl up (living in a city).
Yes, an Ingress account is able to do 40 nominations if you get to the right level (10) and complete the Wayfarer Onboarding. If you use the same account (so say your login to Pokémon GO is through using the email PoniesandFriendship22@gmail.com and you create an Ingress account under this log in too) you don’t need to re-onboard on Wayfarer again.
I have 29 nominations available on Ingress currently and 40 on Pokémon GO so could go and nominate 69 new different Wayspots now without having to wait.
Guess we’ll be playing ingress too then, with my friend that would be 160 a month then.
Should be enough to do every community day a new walking trail and number/nominate all the trail markers while making a new pogo route.
Bought a book with all the walking routes in our city so I can put the name of the route and the number of the marker in the title and put additional information (length, starting point and notable points of interest during the trail), let’s hope that gives a better acceptance rate 🥲
I usually go with something like this even if just to make it more easily identifiable as well as more interesting to anyone using it rather than X Trail or X Trail #7, X Trail #582 etc
To be fair, bad reviewers don't really get banned.
Good reviewers though?
Yes, this is how I do trail markers, always try to make each one unique with a title describing what it's near, between, on the way to. Passing X farm, crossing Y stream, leaving Z road etc.
It's confusing and frustrating to see several all with the same name and similar photos, no easy way to distinguish between them.
