AMA - November 2023 (Discussion)

Hello Explorers,
As 2023 comes to an end, we would like to host one final AMA for the year and answer some of your most pressing questions. As we did in the last AMA, we’re going to make the question submission portion of the AMA anonymous by having a Google Form to collect questions. In the Google Form, you'll have the opportunity to add up to 3 questions. Once we close the question collection portion of the AMA, we will then partner with our amazing Ambassadors to highlight themes from all of the submitted questions and use those to address the top community curiosities.
The November 2023 AMA will take place starting 11/15/2023 12:00pm PDT and will end in a week from then on 11/22/2023 12:00pm PDT. The full timeline is as follows:
- Question Submission Period: November 15, 2023 at 12:00pm PDT - November 22, 2023 at 12:00pm PDT
- Theme Forming Period: November 22, 2023 - November 27, 2023
- AMA Response Work Time: November 27, 2023 - December 1, 2023
- AMA Community Post: December 1, 2023
We’re excited to see what your curiosities are this time around and sharing our responses to them. Ambassadors will have access to the questions, no other account information will be shared.

Has anyone really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like?
Were edits reset?
Will we actually get some proper answers this time around?
If I thumb down something in exercise, explore or socialize, will that be a rejection?
I know you guys won't do it but I will ask again, any way to give us that can't go to in person events some merch? I mean honestly I have not feeling that motived to vote lately, I do it since I'm the admin for my local community. Something for doing 50k reviews would cheer me up a bit.
Already have my questions planned
1. What in the holy heck ks happening with appeals, the rejection reasons are just getting g beyond daft now, to the point biantic Aaron is having to overturn them when we complain on here
2. Can we finally have a proper criteria clarification about restaurants, seeing as no one seems to want to accept them unless rhey are in newspapers or travel.guides, which very rarely, if ever, happens here
3. Can these abysmal punishment emails be more useful, like explain what you're actually being punished for and why it meets a punishment.
4. Can communication from niantic finally be improved, at least for wayfarer, as its always a joke how bad it can be
....... what?
I've been further even more decided to use even go need to do look more as anyone can. Can you really be far even as decided half as much to use go wish for that? My guess is that when one really been far even as decided once to use even go want, it is then that they have really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like.
They are not Glaswegian ……
Here are some previous AMAs and the criteria challenges:

AMAWhen are we going to see the questions from the last AMA answered? All we got back in Juen was just the roadmap, but no answers to any AMA questions.
If this news has arrived to Pokemon GO Hub or similiar sites, I expect many GO players will storm in just to ask,
"When the #### would you stop banning players???"
Yeah that brought some awesome gems like "it’s critical to first improve the overall Wayfarer experience and review flow before moving to a new dedicated app" followed by this horrendous overhaul they've refused to make necessary changes to.
*In Micheal myers English accent* oh no I've gone cross eyed
It’s just common sense.
Now to ask about longer titles and descriptions again…
Are you going to fix the facebook login issues anytime soon?
My first instinct was to carefully craft numerous questions as I have before, only to have them all ignored, but since I am no longer reviewing, I will leave the questions to those of you who still are.

Why do you post important messages late on Fridays and then don't reply to most of the questions?
Why do you ignore the players?
Hello Explorers,
The AMA Question Submission Form is now open and taking questions!
*Sigh* Only three questions with no guarantees that any if them will be addressed?
I'm not expecting any of the following questions to make it in since I'm refusing to use the form:
slavesstaff members accuse and send out uneducational emails and threats of bans of "incorrect reviewing" that is completely against criteria or the actual real-life situation of the wayspot being nominated/reported?Warn me the hell you want because instead of actually doing the right thing, you think it's funny to improperly address my abuse reports, mishandle my invalid appeals and then threaten me for a ban because of something that is supposedly "generic" knowing that your slaves have absolutely no grasp of this new criteria and/or are deliberately going against common sense. Your greatest and most dedicated Wayfinders are reeling from these emails and have stopped reviewing, and some ambassadors have said this themselves too. And not to mention the smear on India and expecting players there to clean it up for themselves, to the point of even bastardising Ingress players by excluding them. A giant kick in the teeth.
Perhaps maybe we should consider this series of questions:
When are we getting a new community manager? Do you even have KPIs that you have to follow or do you just make them up so that you excuse yourself from the company's layoff rounds?
And perhaps try to show more personality like how danbocat used to instead of being robotic and excessively selective for what you post/reply to? What the hell does safe exploring even mean? I am prepared for my own ban because it is increasingly not worth it anymore and no respect is given to the community since you've let monḱeys run the abuse console and issue out incorrect appeals (both approvals and rejects) and tell everyone that they're submitting invalid nominations.
And maybe one last question:
When will Wayfarer be closed off to reviewers entirely and solely be governed by AI to accept and reject, and also process appeals (i.e. the exact same answer as their initial decision)? It seems reviewers are shot down increasingly and heavily discouraged with braindead appeal decisions and the random (often incorrect) processing of nominations/edits/photos out of the blue.
I'd like to see Wayfarer be run into the ground, six feet under.
Bye Felicia.
If reviewers must do a full review when downvoting all of the eligibility criteria, why are they not required to do a full review for rejecting a nomination for other reasons?
Elaborate on what makes a location or object a great place to socialize. I’ve seen many advocates, including ambassadors, that so long as two people, by chance, can meet and have a casual conversation, that is sufficient grounds to accept something as a great place to socialize.
There have been a few reviewers who received warnings about not following the eligibility criteria over completely subjective standards. Since Niantic has refused to engage the community regarding the meaning of the criteria, how are reviewers supposed to know how to correctly interpret the criteria and use their good judgment?
Just a few questions I have that come to mind
1) Are there any plans or talks in regards to allowing more transparency or a way to see Wayspot edits (adding pictures, changing descriptions, locations, etc) in the Contribution Management; and not only just nomination submissions?
2) Would Niantic be open to the idea of implementing a "progress bar" type of system similar to the Agreement/upgrade system; to allow reviewers to know and see the progress of a nomination's time in voting until it reaches a decision represented by a percent progress rather than a number since we don't really need to know " how many " reviews are needed before decision, just the progress. This would allow reviewers to have sense of timeframe decision speed in an area.
3) Can Niantic provide more transparency in terms of the result of selecting yes/no/I Don't Know options when going through the reviewing process on a nomination. There have been reviewers who are receiving emails and warnings regarding not reviewing correctly and not following eligibility criteria . Many reviewers feel as though they're in the dark in terms of if they're doing it correctly
4) Would Niantic be open to the idea of creating a master list of acceptable criteria examples; a locked post which is upgraded every month or so with examples that the community may have difficulty making decisions on; this way reviewers wouldn't need to constantly reference/site and provide links to previous and old forum posts in an attempt to "prove" that their submissions are valid and eligible
we can ask Aaron to see our stupid call rejections ?? On a photo of an indoor leisure park, I was entitled to a remark that there were body parts even though they were drawn characters
Is Philo P a real person and why are they threatening beloved community members?
Why do you unjustly ban players for submitting hiking trail makers that have previously been approved with an appeal?
Why do you lie about not handing out bans lightly?
Why is a bot running all the ban appeal form responses with the exact same auto-reply email to every message?
Why even are there multiple ban appeal forms?
Why is there no way to contact human staff members concerning unjust bans?
Hello Niantic,
One thing that always find missing in Wayfarer is our own submission stats.
Give us a real dashboard with all our information, not only upgrades available and agreements; don't think only about your database but think about trainers and agents who develop the wayspots for you.
Give us our numbers:-
-Wayspot in queue
-Wayspot in voting
-Accepted submission in Ingress
-Accepted submission in Pogo
-Appeal in voting
And more I may have forget...
Merci
