Horseshoe Pits Allowed?

I've noticed over the last 3 years that horseshoe pits seem to get automatically pulled and a decision made within 72 hours of uploading to Wayfarer. They also appear to get a Niantic symbol and they are always rejected. I've had some approved over the years before this behavior started, but lately it seems to get fast tracked right into a rejection. I know there are terms in the title and description that sometimes cause this, but I cannot find anything wrong with these submissions. And given some of the controversy with bans being handed out like candy, I'm hoping for clarification. I'm just trying to grow the games at parks.

I've only nominated maybe 3 horseshoe pits in the past, and they weren't particularly recent (last one was submitted a year ago), but there didn't seem to be anything unusual about the process when I did. Horseshoe pits seems to obviously meet the exercise and social criteria, and I've never heard anyone from Niantic say they have any specific concerns about horseshoe pits (like say, flying heavy objects).
Perhaps you could post screenshots of some of your nominations so we could see if there might be another reason they're getting pulled in and rejected?
I have submitted 13 horseshoes pits over the past four years and all of them have made it through review and been accepted. It would be interesting to see your nominations that got screened.
@ThePonzzz-PGO Can you share your nominations that were rejected. Title, photos, text, supporting info and where. That will help make it clearerl
Weirdly I have had long jump pits rejected. I renamed to sand pits and they passed. Go figure. But in your community you may need to be creative :-)
Izaak Walton League Horseshoe Pit
Sanded and raised horseshoe pit at Wheelock Park.
Pit is about 20 meters from lodge. May be difficult to see from aerial map. Located close to the landmark A and parking on the following map. https://www.izaaksb.com/hiking
Izaak Walton League Horseshoe Pit
Located by the lodge in Wheelock Park.
There are several picnic tables and parking close by. Pit is behind the lodge heading toward the archery field. Map might only show aerial shot.
River Horseshoe Pit
Located by the River Shelter at Madeline Bertrand Park.
One of several horseshoe pits at the park.

Oops, that didn't format right, but the title, description, supp info are all in order of the pictures. Each of these are always immediately flagged to be done by Niantic with the Niantic symbol appearing within 72 hours. A decision is always made within that timeframe. I've tried these over the course of 3 years. I usually don't resubmit stuff much because I value my time a bit more than I want to push a new submission.
I realize there are leaves in the images and there are no signs on what they are. But the rejection reasons on an appeal I got from Niantic are:
Thanks for the appeal, Explorer! The object in question does not meet the Wayfarer criteria as the object is generic. We recommend you review the Wayspot Criteria before submitting your next Wayspot contribution: https://niantic.helpshift.com/hc/en/21-wayfarer/
Every backboard for a basketball court would be generic, if we're using that line of thinking. The real world location is unique to the park. But since I got the appeal note, I figured I'd ask here.
I've got nothing on the initial rejections. The photos seem well-done, and while the descriptions aren't terribly detailed, they don't seem to have anything objectionable in them. I have no clue why Niantic would be grabbing these for review.
On the appeal, my guess would be that the reviewer may not be familiar with what a horseshoe pit is. Regardless, we certainly know appeal reviewers seem poorly trained, at least those who are rejecting things lately.
Yeah, I would usually just shrug this off and move on, but because it's Niantic grabbing these, I was a bit concerned something was wrong. I can just try again the next time I'm at these parks. Winter is just about here so probably will try again next year.
You know.. I would take a rake with me. And clean those suckers up so they look used. But more importantly so you can create a difference between the natural looking stuff and pits themselves.
I know I know. Annoying.
And if the AI is involved then it is probably having a conniption :-) As all it will see is the same same same everywhere
@ThePonzzz-PGO I reckon that simple act will change. Also select time of day so the contrast is better.
I have done the same. Removed weeds/grass. cleaned edges. Even taken a cloth with me to clean information boards. Or even damped a surface to create better contrasts.
Good luck!
