I ask this because nearby a an open space of green grass got accepted recently, however, I cannot get mine accepted.
Yes providing they're clearly a park they're acceptable without a sign. Getting them passed without a sign can be difficult though. Is there a link to a council website or similar you could include in your supporting text - that might help. Are there are any line marked sports fields?
I got the football pitch accepted nearby, putting a link of the park is a good idea
@highflyingcloud-PGO yes they are - but you really really need to work your LGA (Local Government Authority) links and anything else (meet ups at park etc etc)
It may not happen over night. I had one and it took many attempts and an appeal.I had to link it to everything I could.
Note Niantic Criteria Challenge had a section stating these are acceptable so also link to that. Wayfarer Criteria Challenge — Wayfarer (nianticlabs.com)
This looks a lot more like a park than most things I see in my area without signs. Typically I just see grass in flood control basins and they call it a park or dog park. Maybe take the picture from behind the bench so the bench is in front of you and the field is beyond the bench? It's hard to say since I don't know what the park looks like.
Getting a park accepted is now much easier with the new voting system than it used to. Still, it can be tricky. Aside from all the other advice above, make sure your photo is as visually appealing as possible. A similar photo, but a bit brighter with a blue sky or, alternatively, with a sunset would go a long way.
On the photos - remember you can take a photo and edit it, and then use it in the submission. So on a gloomy day I might enhance the photo, increase the dynamic range or use one of the other filters to make it look better and then submit it while still on the spot.
