I'd like to expand on the "parts of a whole" concept.
First let's look at an amusement park, where there's a waypoint at the gate representing the whole park - and inside, each ride has a waypoint. Most people ride some things but not others. Some ride one thing more than once.
Then compare it to a golf course, where the Wayspot at the gate represents the whole course - one giant sports field. No one goes, plays holes 10, 13, and 17 twice, then leaves. The holes are part of the whole waypoint. Just as you don't go to interact with a baseball infield and outfield separately, or the north football goal separately from the south goal.
@cyndiepooh-ING I just reviewed "hole 4" on a golf course today and struggled with how to reject it, now that we have the cookie-cutter review system. None of the boxes fits. Which box do you think we should check? It stumped me, even though i knew it was a reject. Thanks!
Reject it as unsafe. Unless it is the first TEE (Information singn) only should be a nomination in my way of thinking. All others you are in danger of getting hit by a flying disc.
i use whichever reason makes the most sense in the situation: like the last two comments, as a duplicate of the course as a whole if that is in game, or unsafe if the entire course is not in game, or even permanent/distinct if it is just the basket and looks stuck in the ground temporarily. but with that one they might just resubmit.
Until Niantic provides some expedited way to report and remove Disc Golf Wayspot clusters, or conversely gives tacit approval for all Disc Golf Wayspots, we'll keep seeing these nominations and having these same conversations.
Or until we as reviewer start saying no to the holes. From what I understand that is what Niantic wanted the community to start doing make decisions on things like this. If the community comes together then we can make the difference. I still say the first tee will be the only one that I will approve after talking to some other disc-golf player. They want me to play. To tell the truth it looks to much like work. 🤣😂
I've been rejecting disc golf Wayspots for years, and telling people why they're not really eligible - all I ever hear in response is "yeah well they go through so I'll keep submitting them." Since such a very small portion of reviewers ever visit these fora, or look for more information on eligibility (including updates and AMA responses), there's really very little we can do to stop the submissions from getting through - and once one goes through, many more will follow. If all reviewers here reject these spots while the rest of the community votes to accept, all we're doing is ruining our reviewer ratings - which then means that our votes on other candidates carry less weight.
I guess if this is the one that brings my ratings down then so be it. I think it is unsafe and until someone shows me that getting hit by one of these disc. Is safe I will mark the holes as unsafe. I would hope anyone with any kind of intelligence would do the same.
Comments
Niantic knows this is becoming an issue they should get ahead of it. I think there is enough pokestspots that we could forego the disc golf holes
Very good safety and interference arguments here.

It is a duplicate of the golf course sign, rules sign, first tee, or whatever disc golf thing shows up on your duplicate map.
