Condos
I have ran across a few of these condo type nominations. Like the playground or swimming pool in the areas that only the condo owners can go. Now to me that is not in the true spirit of the game. So I am making them as private property.
There is one were the pool has a stop at 38°43'20"N 121°21'49"W now they are asking for a stop at the playground. This is at Bridgefield Condominiums 8440 Walerga Rd Antelope California. A gated community.

It has been stated many times by Niantic that gated communities are perfectly fine for wayspots. The members of the community and their guests have access so that is sufficient. Private property is only for single family residences.
Then you really aren't reviewing in the true spirit of the guidelines on eligible nominations.
What spirit are you referring to? Nothing anywhere in the criteria says that everyone needs to be able to access every POI. It simply says that POI need to be "great" places to exercise, socialize, or explore. If I can socialize with my neighbors and have a great time at my pool, that's eligible according to the criteria.
The famous example we always use is Disney World. It's marketed as the happiest place on earth. Yet it has limited access behind gates that you must pay a not insignificant fee to access. You'd never dream of denying POI on Disney properties. It's the same with gated communities. Just because only those with the right to be there can access the POI, it doesn't make them ineligible.
I don't know why I continue to be shocked by how many people come here to argue their own personal interpretation of how Wayfarer works while talking to people who have been doing it for years and have thousands of reviews under their belt. Trust me, you can't make an argument that we haven't heard many times over.
And I say this as someone who disagrees with some of the "established" rules. I just keep those opinions to myself and make the case in my individual submissions. If the community agrees with me, they'll let me know.
From the reviewing info:
These locations are appropriate:
Any location that is accessible publicly to pedestrians, both indoors and outdoors, is appropriate, including the following locations:
The fact that there is a gate to access access an area is neither here nor there.
The standard rules apply. So anything within that area that is on a single private residential property is not allowed. Anything on public/communal areas is assessed against acceptability criteria as normal. As standard there is no minimum or maximum number of wayspots - it depends on how many eligible things there may be.
Make sure the bottom section (categories) includes apartment/condo - and let Niantic sort out what they want or don't.
.IOW let each game (even ones that aren't written yet) select the Lightship datapoints they want.
@MargariteDVille-ING admittedly I find it difficult to take categorisation very seriously but why would catorgorise a playground for example based on the things close to it?
I know of a lot of playgrounds surrounded by PRP but I wouldn’t select PRP alongside playground, anymore than I would select church if there was one next to it. The question asks for the nomination itself to be categorised. Or at least that is what I have understood……could be wrong.
Oh I see a very ugly trend starting to emerging here. From Gated Community, Condo's, Housing Complexes, Subdivision and a Private Home.
ENJOY THE GAME!
None of those words are synonyms.
What about closed parks, amusement parks, museums? They are all private property but you can still access them. If you have a friend in that residensial area you could access it.
Single family home property, private farms (not farms that allow visits), or inside homes are the only rejectable private properties according to the criteria
Enjoy the game? What game? Wayfarer is a tool, not a game (i do think its a game)
what do you even want us to do lol? Go against the criteria of Wayfarer? Thats not the true spirit of "the game"
This is a classic case of Sucks to Suck tm.
Say it with me now: 👏👏Players are not entitled to access every Wayspot👏👏
Follow the real criteria, not your own.
😂🤣
Oh I just noticed that the ones in the housing development. Seem to be less important then the ones in Condo's now me/my and I don't see a problem with it. I don't a problem having one in my driveway. We have BBQ Pit, Hibachi type grill, Smoker, A gas grill, Charcoal Grill. We have a horseshoe pit, Bad Mitten net, Croquet set, a one hoop basketball court, and a little place to play football (flag, @ 62 I don't need tackle someone) . On a farm that has been in me and the wife's family since before WWI. That has walking trails over a hundred acres. East trail, Mom's trail (I like this one it goes to Mom's) West trail and the upper trail. Two creeks the pond will be finished this summer. We even have a little house for the cats we loving call the Catty shack. It is entertaining, we all get exercise there, sometimes we have as many as 50 people here sometimes. Ten or more play Pokemon. But do you think it is a good place for a waypoint. NO! Because it is private property. The Farm is a generic business. That is only for me, my family, my friends and associates can use. Sounds just like the Condo's Gated Community Right? But hey nothing special about the Deerwood Subdivision Sign or the largest hottub at housing complex.
God I love this Game. AND Pokémon too.
ENJOY THE GAME.
Classic case of “if I can’t access it, no one should be able to access it”. That’s very immature thinking.
WOW! Like I said "I don't see a problem with it" I am just saying be CONSISTENT!
If anyone disagrees with that. Than they need to think about what they are about!
Really, what's your problem? What is inconsistent in your POV?
The hot tub I mentioned before was in a housing complex 3 story with 3 building making a kida U shape. With access at one end of the structure that has an open area in the center called the quad. The quad has hot tub the size of some pools. This is is a 100 apartment building. VOTE as private property. My son tried to add this one while on vacation. Another by his friend was fountain in the court yard of place they visited friends. Same thing private property. So this one above I actually skipped. Because I was not sure. I truly got a stink started.
Like I said "I could care less" I will anyone have one as long as it is not unsafe, at a hospital/clinic, in their driveway, doubled up, photos messed, or just silly. I have found if I ask here those that want the waypoints speak louder then those that don't.
Who knows I might get someone to nominate my old Alis Tractor in the flower bed. 😅😂🤣
ENJOY THE GAME.
By the way did you really have to come of with the "What's your problem" attitude?
I think being consistent is not too much to ask!
There might be inconsistency in how people vote, because not everyone follows the rules, but I don't see any inconsistency in the rules . The rules haven't changed in years either.
The inconsistency is in your story. First you claim that you came across these nominations while reviewing, and you (incorrectly) marked them as private property. Now you seem to imply that you were the one ( Or a family member) that nominated objects in a condo or apartment area and they were (incorrectly) marked as private property.
The rule is against single family owned private residential property, not all private property 😒
Respect the difference. Failure to change your voting on these types of nominations may lead to sanctions against your account.
ENJOY THE GAME. 😉
Did you not read. I skipped it! Thank you!
