Please be careful when reveiwing submissions!

I have had two submissions for stops rejected due to being duplicates when they are not duplicates, because there are other stops in the area with similar names but which are distinct sculptures. They're part of an overall story so they all share aspects in the title and description BUT THEY ARE NOT THE SAME.

Pleeease when you're looking at submissions actually LOOK at what you're reviewing. Don't phone it in. Pay attention to the details.

Would you care to share the names and locations of these wayspots?

Also, are you absolutely sure that they don't already exist in the database?

I cannot find the stops on pogomaps.info nor was I able to find them in person.

The stops I'm trying to Submit are called Manilda's Tea Set and Manilda G. Raffe.

The existing stops in the park are Manilda's Umbrella, Manilda's Purse and Manilda's gloves. Here is a link to the gloves, you can find the other's nearby (including a Brush and Mirror which lacks the name Manilda in the title.)

Both new stops I tried to submit were rejected as duplicates but I can't find evidence of either of these existing and I scoured the park in person. If it's there, I couldn't find it. Is there a way to check the database?

It's a really cool piece with a story plaque and everything, and if anything the main sculpture should be a stop https://www.benebronze.com/manilda-g-raffe

First of all, Pogo Maps isn’t always accurate. Second of all, tea set is definitely already in the database. Not sure about the other one. When you submit a nomination in Pokémon, there is a toggle in the bottom left corner. If you turn it on, you can see all nearby wayspots that are in the database. Not everything shows up in Pokémon GO. You might also want to pay attention to details as you instructed others to do.

The tea set exists already. You most likely can't see it on Go due to the exclusion rules it uses.

I've found with Niantic it's better to find out how things work yourself or from other users more knowledgeable than me rather than taking Niantic's information/advice and phoning it in with their games.

    Hello and Welcome @dweeeble-PGO

The links between Wayfarer, the database of wayspots (lightship) and Pokémon Go is more complicated than it might appear.

There are many things that are in Lightship that don’t appear either in Pokemon Go or Ingress. The map you refer to is user generated and can be flawed. Most will use the information from Ingress which tends to be more complete, but even that does not contain everything. This is from the database.

There is a lot in that park.

To help make sure when you are at the location and want to submit in the location scree make sure you have the toggle at the bottom switch on. You will then see the information from lightship that will show if there are any wayspots in the database that don’t meet the inclusion rules for the game.

I had an instance where there was a pocket prairie at a zoo, but it didn't have a stop in PoGo. When I went to nominate it, the map showed that there was already a Wayspot for the prairie, so I never submitted. It's most likely in other Niantic games, just not in PoGo; I think the most asked question here is why their approved Wayspot isn't in a certain game.

Also, like others have said, Pogomap.ingfo is user-created. Any user can add a stop/gym to their map, so it's not an accurate source. I have only added the Wayspots that I have gotten approved and do appear in-game.

When you go to nominate, the best thing to do is ensure this slider is on.

It will then show anything within your nearby radius that is already a PokéStop as well as Wayspots that don’t appear in Pokémon GO, which will help.

Sadly, Ingress does not have the same feature yet.

Hmm okay, thank you everyone for your helpful comments. Anybody know why pieces that are part of the same art set as other pieces that are included, wouldn't be eligible for inclusion?

I was at the park when I submitted it and I could have sworn I scoured the map for the stops I was submitting.

Where does one access this database?

It might be helpful if when looking at rejected stops it let you see the spot its a duplicate of on the page.

Glad to help, even if it’s not good news.

The best way is to have the toggle on in the game when you are the location doing a submission. Very good but not perfect is IITC which uses Ingress data and therefore you need an ingress account- base level is fine. Look for wayfarer tools.

The inclusion rules are not something Niantic discusses and different games use different rules. But for Pokemon Go it is purely based on geography (by using the S2 cells) and not the subject matter. Hence a collection such as the one you have submitted can’t all be included. The best you can do is mention the missing ones in the description to draw attention to them.
