Flagged as a duplicate when there's nothing there
Nominated and upgraded two trail markers in my local park. One went straight into Niantic's voting, other is still in the queue (nominated on the 29th of March,2024). Came out as a duplicate.
Title of the Wayspot: Stanley park trail marker
Location: 53.43403342519055, -2.9681532910233166
City: Liverpool
Country: United Kingdom

As you can see from the pictures above, there's nothing there to be considered as a duplicate. I don't know why this nomination got flagged to go into niantic's voting and why did it come out as a duplicate. I might be wrong, but if someone could shed some light here that would be much appreciated.

My guess is that it was incorrectly marked as a duplicate of the one at 53.435530, -2.967344. It's hard to say though as the picture doesn't always get added when Niantic mark things as duplicates.
I will say you didn't do yourself any favours by giving it an identical title to at least two other wayspots in the park though. They might've marked you down on distinctiveness for that.
Interesting observations. So, what you are saying is 1) someone at niantic can't properly check nominations and 2) I should name trailer markers as not trailer markers (proper confusing). Or maybe, players who are nominating, should be nominating legitimate stuff and people who are checking (especially "In niantic voting") it, should be doing a thorough job?
No, you can still call them trail markers, I would just give them unique titles, like Stanley Park Trail Marker West, or something along those lines.
