A bunch of abusive edits in Nidderau

In this topic, I wish to present a bunch of (successfull) abusive description edits in some districts of the town of Nidderau (mainly „Windecken“ and some parts of „Heldenbergen“). Most of them somehow match the pattern:

„(Another) artwork/graffiti of the (famous/local) artist XYZ“

Where XYZ is in most times the name or nickname of a local player.

There where more of those edits in the past, some of them may never passed the process, some of them may were rejeceted and some are already voted to another description.

The reason why I do this summery thread is, that after those edits already spammed the Wayfarer process (at least) once, I hope that there is another way to revert them then putting them again into the voting process - maybe multiple times, if non local reviewers accept the „artist“ descriptions (wrongly)…

Beside the above pattern of somehow mention the „artist“, I will show you first an abusive edit that is crystal clear and shows the main intention of this edits – putting names (nicknames or real names) on everything (and it's the name that comes up most often):

The Wayspot is called „Das Wärtchen“ below some ingame screenshots and an actual image (since it's been painted, it is better to read):

https://intel.ingress.com/intel?ll=50.225082,8.876696&z=17&pll=50.223724,8.877955

The sign reads:

„Ankauf der Insel „Das Wärtchen“ gestiftet von Rudolf Walther Ehrenbürger der Stadt Nidderau“ - in English: „Purchase of the island “Das Wärtchen” donated by Rudolf Walther, honorary citizen of the city of Nidderau“

[honorary cititzenship in Germany is mostly granted by cities; the island referrs the small island in the river „Nidder“ as you can see in the image or via the link at Google Maps; Rudolf Walther is a German entrepreneur, born in Windecken (district of Nidderau) in1923 and owner of the honorary citizenship of Nidderau (“Ehrenbürgerschaft”), source: https://www.nidderau.de/rathaus-politik-buergerservice/bekannte-nidderauer/]

The actual in-game description is „Gedenktafel des Windeckener Ehrenbürgers [...]“ - in English: „Memorial plaque of the Windeckener honorary citizen [...]”. You can tell that the name [...] is not on the sign even without knowledge of German (and you can check the linked website above that there is no honorary citizen called “[...]”)

I chose this as a first example, because it is clearer/better to proof than the other ones, which are mainly painted electrical boxes. [It is not my point to argue if they are “art” and should or should not be in the Wayfarer database. Even more relevant: yes, nearly all of them exist, I was really surprised! (Of course I have reported the few which are not/no longer there.)]

Additional information:

The painted Boxes were a project form a local school some years ago. While it was hard to find any hard proof for this statement (beside the former description of the Wayspot “Liebespaar” that it was a project in 2011), I just mailed to the official in charge for culture administration of the town of Nidderau. Below a screenshot of that mail with the answer of the question, if the painted boxes were a school project (short answer: yes, in agreement with the energy operator). I have redacted personal information in the screenshot.

German:

Sehr geehrter Herr [...],

[…]

English:

Dear Mr. [...],

the project was supported by the art courses of the Bertha von Suttner culture school

(at that time Ms. [...] and other art teachers)

implemented a few years ago in agreement with the energy operator.

Best regards

[…]

If you don’t trust the mail screenshot, you can ask there by yourself (unfortunately the mail address contains the name of the official, so I don’t post it here) by searching in the mail and telephone directory of Nidderau for “Sachbearbeitung Kulturverwaltung” (German for: offical in charge for culture administration):

https://www.nidderau.de/rathaus-politik-buergerservice/telefonverzeichnis/

(the website is only available in German, the search field is the “Suche”. I am pretty sure they can answer the question who did the paintings in English also)

I realy hope that there is a way to undo the edits (even if the descriptions were empty before) in one step by Niantic, so that we don’t have to fill the Wayfarer process again for undoing, after the edits already polluted the process and took time of Wayfarers out there, when they where handed in (the time could have been used to evaluate new wayspots or relevant edits).

Even better: if there are few or just one individuals who can be identified that handed (or still hand) in those edits and there are more of pending edits of this type, maybe they can be deleted from the backend side. And maybe there is a possibility to ensure no new abusive edits by those authors.

Side note:

Not all of the screenshots from the review process were taken by myself. Some of them were provided by Wayfarers from a German Wayfarer plattform. Many Thanks!!

(I don't mention the names as I don't know how the abusive authors would react to this information.)
