Hi Niantic

Can you please provide clarity on upgrades.

In the Nomination Management page of Help on Wayfairer it says the below regarding upgrades which seems to contradict itself.

  • Upgraded - A lightning bolt next to your nomination means that an Upgrade has been applied. If you only have one nomination at the time you receive an Upgrade, the Upgrade is applied automatically. If you have more than one nomination queued, you’ll need to choose a nomination and tap or click the purple Upgrade button in the top right of the screen to apply it. 
  • Upgrade Next - If you have no Upgrades available, you can select one nomination to be upgraded when an Upgrade is earned. If no nomination is selected, the upgrade will be applied to an eligible nomination randomly

The ‘Upgraded’ section implies that if you have more than one nomination when you get an upgrade, you go in and pick one to upgrade.

The ‘Upgrade Next’ section implies that unless you chose upgrade next on a nomination, it is randomly applied when earned.

Which is it?

In fairness, I use upgrade next so don’t really care too much for my reviews but still worth knowing.

    Upgrade next is just a flag that you can set against a nomination of your choosing. When you earn an upgrade the system first looks to see if you have a nomination marked as upgrade next, if so then the upgrade you earned is applied to that nomination. Otherwise a random nomination that you have in queue or in voting has the upgrade applied to it.

    Once a nomination has an upgrade applied to it then it will be marked as upgraded and have the lightning bolt next to it.

    that they are automatic is a problem, they give more problems in local requests
