Trial markers with no presdetrian access

Do you give these a one? it does seem daft rejecting a walking trial marker because of lack of predestrian access. However I am seeing alot of them

That one looks tricky. One could argue - as I do - that the grass verge, as shown constitutes safe pedestrian access. I've had some nominations which could be argued either way in terms of pedestrian access. It would be up to your own judgement as to whether this had safe access.
Those country lanes don't look too busy, however it is at a junction and the hedgerows may obstruct the view, both for the pedestrian and somebody in a vehicle. However, the lines at the junction are dashed - meaning 'give way' not 'stop', therefore the view must not be too obstructed otherwise they'd've installed 'stop' signs.
Somebody I know had a King Edward VII postbox rejected on pedestrian access grounds, which seems even more daft. Why would they put a postbox in a place where it isn't safe for a person to post their letters? In front of the postbox there is a solid white line, indicating that nobody should park there at any time.
If it was a portal or a pokestop I don't see it being to much of an issue.
The issue for me is if something like this turns into a gym and you get raiders gathering round. And cars parking up.
For those curious, I have found the exact spot on Google maps:
https://www.google.com/maps/@51.3181042,-2.4714484,3a,51.6y,89.91h,88.76t/data=!3m9!1e1!3m7!1s0XQAOAIaBCJBfpgfpRnogA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656!9m2!1b1!2i27
That doesn't look to be a trail marker at all, but an ordinary road sign giving the distance to a particular destination. I would also give it at most a 2 for viability since the sign is mostly hidden by the brush.
Since when is having parking space a requirement? It's perfectly safe to walk there.
I don't see a trail marker with a trail name there though.
That's a good point, and should also be added that we have no Niantic guidance that states we should consider Portal/Stops/Gyms/HP:WU POI any differently in terms of safe pedestrian access.
I am not suggesting it's a requirement for all stops to have parking access but that spot in particular looks very dangerous if cars are going up and down. Whilst it may look like a quite road that can actually be worse because of the speed cars be do round the the corner.
I'm not from the UK, so it might be different there, but I would assume that a countryside road would have a sidewalk if it was not safe to walk on the road itself. Where would pedestrians need to walk in that town if not on the road? I can't imagine walking is not allowed in that town.
On pedestrian access i probably give one or two because it doesn't seem like i could wait there for a long time before a car is driving by
And you really can't see if it actually meets criteria because i can't read what is written on that plaque because of the plants
So what if a car comes driving by? Drivers in area's like these know there can be pedestrians on the road. They drive more cautiously, and pass by any pedestrians without problem.
There seems to be a disconnect here between city people, who have never experienced roads like these, and countryside people, who are used to these situations.
If city people would visit these area's, they would also drive cautiously, because of limited visibility, and lack of local knowledge. So that is also not a problem.
People drive like wankers on country roads here. Locals can actually be worse if they know the roads they get confident.
If you are trying to say that i am living in a city that's not true i am living in a small village but even in a small village a lot of traffic can pass and if a car comes from down below on that picture with full speed wich won't be smart of the car but i won't stand there a whole day or a few hours for example a lure
If your walking trail marker was in Germany, then reviewers could assume that there is save pedestrian access. In Germany, official walking trails are marked by organisations who have a specific permission to do so. They need to follow laws concerning size and location of the markers, even what kind of screws to use if attached to a tree. And walking trails are only allowed where walking is safe, mostly because the roads are not open for cars, only forest management/residents/farmer vehicles. Maybe there are similar regulations in your country? You could reference them in your nomination to help reviewers judge the situation.
If I was a reviewer, I would have difficulties telling if your spot was a walking trail. Too many plants covering the sign.
I would assume roads with a lot of traffic have sidewalks. In the village itself, there are sidewalks, but they stop at these crossroads. There is no signage indicating you are not allowed to walk there, so it should be considered safe.
If you have to account for everything that can go wrong, nothing is safe. In a forest or park, a branch could fall from a tree. Doesn't mean we should consider it unsafe there. If there was a sidewalk there and someone would drive to fast, miss their turn and hit you on the sidewalk, that could happen as well. Doesn't mean we should consider it unsafe. If the local council sees no need for a sidewalk, walking on the street is considered safe (unless there is signage indicating otherwise).
Doesn't mean it should be 5* for safety. I would go for 3* or 4* here. And there are probably better places in the area to use a lure module.
I assume there was a better picture than he Google maps suggests? If theynhave submitted that bluesman thats in the Google maps picture, I'd have rejected it as its a road sign lol
You have to stand on the road to acess this submission. I reviewed it, gave it a 1* for "No pedestrian access".
It is a very rural area. There is no sidewalk. That means local authorities consider it safe to stand on the road.
You should have 1*, doesn't meet criteria.
Thank you for the location link! This was very helpful in my own "review" of this request.
Look across the street to the right (may have to move back a bit) and you'll see what appears to be the same sign:
Or move just a bit down the road to the right, and you'll be able to see the sign itself more clearly (note the brick fence behind):
This is so clearly not a trail marker. I'm not sure why this was even a question in the first place, then.
I will also add that the requested sign appears to be right at the end of PRP - perhaps too close and may encourage trespassing.
