Parking lot basketball courts

Hello all,
I've seen a few of these, and while I can see the basketball hoop, it's in a parking lot...
It has pedestrian access. I mean someone can walk up and touch the hoop, but it's in a parking lot.
I guess part of my confusion is I don't really know how wayfarer is counting my review. It's pretty clear if I 1* the "should this be a waystop," I'm saying no. But if I 2* the first question and the safe access, am I saying No? If it gets accepted, does that count against me? What if it gets added? I wish there was some clarity beyond, 1000 votes so far, 250 agreements, and that's good.
Anyway, here's the parking lot basketball court...

all kinds of sports grounds are eligeble. As long as they are permanent, so no plastic basketball-courts from the supermarket.
2* in any category was a rejection earlier. But I believe that got changed.
Some clarification on this would be helpful, because I've been 1 and 2 staring cultural and historical value lots of baseball fields and plagrounds...
What about a potential concern here for the safe access?
Its not super, because it is on a parking lot. But it doesnt look like a high traffic one. So i would give it 3* for the access
Niantic has not been super clear about this, but there have been many cases where people have had nominations that technically met criteria rejected for not being "culturally significant" or not being "visually unique." Generally speaking, if I'm voting to approve something that otherwise meets criteria, I will not give any category a rating below 3* which is considered indifferent or unsure. There are a few rare exceptions I might give the overall rating a 2* because it isn't explicitly against criteria and then 1* for significance/uniqueness.
Niantic has also not been clear about safe access for candidates with shared pedestrian & motor vehicle access, such as a parking. I do think it's fair to consider that a reckless driver (especially one focused on their phone playing a Niantic AR game) might rush in for a rare spawn or raid timer and not be paying attention to people who are standing there, and similarly a player focused on their phone might not see a car rushing in. So I'm not sure I could justify that being a "5*" example of safe pedestrian access, but it certainly can be accessed safely and, in my opinion, should not be rejected for that. There is also a field behind the hoop with all sorts of safe pedestrian access.
Is that just grass i think if you put the location where the basket is and not in the middle of the parking you have more chance because of the grass behind it
The title makes no sense in the context so it would probably be rejected for multiple low rating
This a fair question that I ask myself when one of these come up. The basketball standard is a mass produced item and is not intrinsically eligible in my mind. I have been rejecting these because without a permanently delineated court, it isn't really an athletic site. To me this is a parking lot with a mass produced basketball standard, not a basketball court
@JSteve0-ING from my understanding, we don't accept basketball courts (or any sports field/area) because the physical equipment is unique or anything like that. We accept them because they encourage exercise and are frequently community gathering places. In the US at least, even these rough courts sometimes have dozens of people using them often and hanging out there.
Personally, if the hoop is permanent (set into the ground/concrete, not just a base filled with water or sand) I pass them typically. It's not a 5* sub but it's still passable, in my opinion.
@Sugarstarzkill-PGO I get that it isn't about the uniqueness of the court or field, but in reality, there is no court or field. It is literally a parking lot with a hoop. It is not really a court or an athletic venue at all. That being said, I understand the other side of the argument. I may shift and rate them low instead of rejecting but I don't really think they fit the criteria well at all.
I rate low on those, because they're not athletic fields -- they're parking lots with basketball hoops next to them.
The primary purpose of the place is parking cars.
