Submission in voting for one year
I've seen people here complaining about their nominations being in the system for a couple months, but my submission has now been in voting for a whole year.
Before some self-proclaimed experts come to cite me how submissions can take a long time if "there aren't enough reviewers in the area" or "votes are not decisive", let me tell you I have close to 200 accepted nominations in our city. Any of them, upgraded or not, have never taken over 4-5 months (less than half the time of this one!). This is one of my oldest nominations - so there hasn't been a shortage of reviewers in the area, as so many others already got a decision by now. Even the big backlog push back in April(?) did not help push this one.
This is a mural at a commercial area, outside a brewery next to seating area. It has a photosphere. There is no reason why that would not get a decision for so long.
@NianticCasey-ING or any other Niantic mod, please check why has that happened. I have another nomination reaching one year in voting in a week. I am certain this is not intentional behavior.
Comments
This is normal for big cities, I got the same "problem".
"Normal" would mean most of my other 270 nominations would had behaved the same.
This is not "normal".
then its just bad luck. You should not complain if only one of 270 nominatios WITHOUT UPGRADE is not getting reviewed....
Maybe you should leave it to people who actually understand the system, as luck is not part of it.
Now stop diverting the conversation please.
okay, good luck.
PS: Nia will not tell you their system :D
there are indeed some nomz that do not process properly. i had nomz in review for a very long time since october 2019, and deleted them in March 2020.
as i live at the crossroad of S2-Cells (We guess 6 or 8 are relevant) i can tell that every cell has its on life, and things go thru faster in one than in the other.
Also as stated before, sometimes things get clogged as they are stuck between things that do not get thru, and sometimes things even are multiple submissions and block out each other.
As LuckAllStars-PGO stated, NIA wont tell you their secret recipe, and i guess they wont take a look at your submissions.
6 or 9 i believe
* 6 and 9. Level 9 cells seem to help prioritize and Level 6 simply by available reviewers.
Personally, of course. It could be a dynamic equation that handles different areas ... Differently.
@OrIando-ING you should upgrade it. That seems to be the only way to deal with such "stuck" nominations.
id delete it and send in again. it happend alot that nomz got lost somehow.
Upgrading after waiting a whole year or deleting and resubmitting are not acceptable options. This is something that should be fixed and that's why I've brought it here. Hopefully @NianticCasey-ING will have a look at it.
I don't need them to tell me the secrets of the system. Having a look is all I ask for.
"Upgrading after waiting a whole year or deleting and resubmitting are not acceptable options."
Why not, though? Upgrading stuck nominations has always worked for me.
The whole system is supposed to be fun. I personally love submitting new things, and mostly they are accepted. even my sons really like submitting.
on the other hand, everyone of us really does not like reviewing. we basicly loathe it. from what i hear, mostly everyone has abandoned this.
Niantic is just asking you to review, so you will get a Upgrade that you can use on your precious submission.
They probly wont take a look at your submission, as they never did on my problem-submissions. If someone is looking at it, the answer will be "it is in voting, people are reviewing it, it hasnt got enough views, please use a upgrade".
I have earned 123 upgrades already. Not that it matters.
I love how the community here tries to bury problems instead of helping surfacing them.
No wonder Niantic won't even try to answer questions.

Honestly I enjoy reviewing, although it does become less enjoyable the more Niantic delays updating giddiness and encouraging submitters to understand criteria.

I was there a year ago. Upgrades were no longer working for me and at one point I had 18 active upgrades still in voting or queue. Anyone who has reviewed knows that having that many upgrades not being resolved means something is wrong. It took months to get Niantic to acknowledge it, they repeatedly said it was fixed, and still they stuck for me. Pleas to direct Support were met with generic responses that the nomination simply needed more votes and that I should encourage more reviewers. At one point I was told incorrect information that "only one upgrade could be active at a time." The experience was one of the worst I've had, and I don't feel like I was ever given an apology. Eventually they all went through, but it was over 3 months for some of them.
@rodensteiner-ING
Anyways, the system is supposed to be fun. I think more people should contribute to it. I don't think any area should be subjected to nominations taking over a year, especially when we know of areas that only take a few days.
Has it been in voting the whole time or was it stuck in queue behind something else close by for a few months.?
It went into voting a few days after submission.
"3D Glasses Mural"?
That doesn't sound right nor seem to match the photo. Others have suggested that you delete it and re-submit it which is a good advice, or just assumed that it's rejected and move on.
Any more assumptions?
yes, and Niantic should do someting about that. This feels like a chore. And they know that. Still, they dont want to make it any more userfriendly. There are things coming in the road to 2021, but i guess they wont change the direness.
Looks like a good one to me. Either give it more time or like others have said delete and resubmit... Although you could just re submit and use an upgrade when you get one. Then delete the original when it gets accepted.
Is "3D glasses" mural the official Title? Might try and find info on it as well and name it the official title. Make sure to credit the artist in the description.
I did of course gave credit to the artist in the description. I tried to check their website to find the official title, but that specific work is not shown in there. I tried to give it a name in the same nature of other works by the same artist.
I totally believe the system is flawed.
This should be a First In First Out system, where the upgrades just bouce things up in the priority, but still a one-year-old submission should have more weight than a one-week suggestion... SPECIALLY when they hit into VOTING...
I agree... even with IN QUEUE suggestions...
I had one suggestion I added in 2019-08-24 on an area with not a single "wayspot"... it was a public library adjacent to a park... I did not submit the park itself because it was almost sunset and because of the lighting for the photo...
I have just withrawn that like two weeks ago, after checking the ingress portal and seeing 3 stops (the library, the park and a playground in the park) so I just removed it as it was duplicated.
But still feels off that it was IN QUEUE for 14 months, I was just thinking due to a low density area, but after seeing 3 other wayspots in the same location it felt wrong.
I have a nomination that has been in voting for a several weeks at this point. I checked the Ingress Intel Map to see if the King Edward the 8th pillar box I found out about was a Wayspot and it turns out it wasn't, so I travelled a fair distance to get there. Really bothers me that it's stuck considering the effort I went through to get there.
i keep repeating myself, but i have to say it once again, just like the mentioned above said
First in, First out. Simple as that.
I completely understand that NiA wants to give things a go that are in not so-dense wayspotted areas.
But it cannot be that there are things in the system unresolved that are from 2018, 2019 or even 2017.
It is more than frustrating for people waiting over a year. some people might not even live to see it go live (or get it rejected)
@NianticCasey-ING Did you have a chance to check this yet?
I am waiting for your answer.
@OrIando-ING ^^
@OrIando-ING have you tried reporting your issue through the in-game support? I had a POI that behaved similar to this a couple years ago. After reporting it through in-game support, I got a message stating they couldn't do anything about it, but the nomination was flushed out of the system a day later in the form of a rejection email.
I know others have suggested re-submitting, and I recommend that you do that as well as it would certainly be faster, but I think your efforts are worthwhile to try to bring an issue to the surface.
Thanks for the input!
Resubmission is not an acceptable option for me. If the system is at fault why should I wait X more months after already waiting a whole year? Same goes for applying an upgrade.
As I've already shown it's not that I'm too lazy to work for an upgrade, and I have earned over 100 of these to prove so.
I don't mind coming back here every day to ask @NianticCasey-ING if he has "escalated this to the team".
I hope solving real problems is as important to him as linking to the abuse form for the 500th time.
