Sign vs. Actual POI

I got a nomination to review that is asking for the sign for an already existing wayspot to be added. The way this is worded, the evidence that this should be added is the "cool story" associated with the restaurant, not the merits of the sign. Should this be a) rejected because the sign is pretty generic, b) marked as a duplicate because the restaurant is already a wayspot, c) accepted because guidance says it is okay if the sign and the POI are a significant distance (215 m) from each other?

I'd mark that as a duplicate.
To be acceptable, I would expect it to be either eligible on its own (such as having artistic merit) or a significant distance away. The "significant distance" is highly subjective.
Wayspot Review FAQ:
Should the sign for a Wayspot nomination be marked as a duplicate if there is already a Wayspot for the object the sign represents?
If the sign is a significant distance from the object then it should be considered on its own. If it is close, such as with a church sign and a nearby church building, then it should be marked as a duplicate.
Potentially Confusing Nominations:
Signs for locations/objects that are already existing Wayspots - Eligible, if they are a significant distance from the object or location. For example, a sign for a monument could be a separate Wayspot than the monument itself. If a sign for Wayspot is nearby the Wayspot itself, it can be used as a supplementary photo for the existing Wayspot.
