We will be proactively reviewing previously rejected nominations that may have met the updated criteria.
So we are going to have a long overdue audit of "Generic Business" rejections. I foresee much complaining as people's ratings fall to poor for using this as a generic rejection reason for anything that weren't a businesses.
Great to see some sweeping updates with focus on clarifications.
However, we really need to see the section on "Ineligible location, place, or object" broken down separately and defined to eliminate confusion.
Reading all the documents as a whole, we can infer the following:
Location - Where something is. Ineligible locations are where the location of the thing overrides the acceptability. Can be submitted as a place.
Place or Object - Subject of submission.
So is a cemetary a location or a "place or object" for rejection? Are we to reject them as submissions only, or treat them as ineligible locations similar as schools? How does that interact with the guidelines for graves significant/historical figures?
The community has had a lot of debates over this one through the years, and it never gets clarified fully.
I see in all this we also have the "Content Guidelines" which is stuck outside of the other Eligibility guidelines which seems to be the new clarification section that covers graveyards somewhat, but puts them as "sensitive areas" which just muddies the waters, adding another thing that's not defined or clarified in the right spot.
@NianticCasey-ING the new guidelines are way, way too vague.
As you stated that all previous requirements are rescinded.
Request that you provide a new, and complete, list of requirements
I am also extremely disappointed that Wayfarer is being now used for essentially junk wayspots. With these new guidelines
I know what "training" is, but I don't know what "onboarding" is exactly, so please tell me.
so every forest here has some sort of name. is that now a wayspot?
Onboarding; also known as organizational socialization, is jargon first created in the 1970s that refers to the mechanism through which new employees (trainers/agents) acquire the necessary knowledge, skills, and behaviors in order to become effective organizational members and insiders.
Onboarding is jargon for training for someone new. Training would be a continuous thing which we all could get as new rules or procedures were implemented.
Now people can understand Café are accept 👍🏻💙
Always accept from Niantic but lots of people on Wayfarer always dont accept café.
Iam not sure about the new darkmode if the wayspot is on or nearby a street layer and the darkmode is switched on the street layer is not transparent anymore. That may cost some trouble to find the wayspot if he is hidden under the street layer.
What about municipal info boards, welcome signs and maps? If I read the elegibility criteria, it would be "no"?
Are playgrounds still acceptable?
What happened to criteria "A place that connects people" or "engages the mind"? This category covered libraries, post offices, churches, historical places, historic markers, etc. Are these no longer valid? Now we only want exploration, exercise, or social?
Just signed up today for wayfarer and thought it'd be fun. I think coming to the forums was a mistake, this is all starting to sound like serious business.
It is. Its for guideline clarification, editing POIs or reporting abuse
Super but they do not work if they do not update the rejection sections, they must also remove the category lists since many bse confused and think that because they are there they are valid. (I doubt they'll answer me for being Latino 🤭)
So what's about cemetary ?
this isnt a ponyfarm.
hello since this is a major update, it would be possible to resubmit the test to give people a chance to go back to great, for some time it has been impossible to go back given the quality of the waypoints submitted.
I also want to see clarification on cemeteries. Graves of historical people are permitted but what about group graves such as veteran's monuments? I also have had many debates in historical cemeteries with informational signs. Is an info sign permitted because it is historically significant even though a cemetery itself is not acceptable as a wayspot just because it is old?
Thanks for the update on small businesses! I have been encouraging this approach for a year with little success.
This new criteria is unfortunately not clear on a couple of previously long debated situations:
Access - Are we to interpret the abuse criteria as saying that wayspots only accessible by a subset of people are not permitted now, or to continue with the previously spelled out clarifications that a wayspot is considered accessible so long as it can be reached by some people some of the time. Case in point, this gazebo I submitted in a resort was just rejected after a whole year of waiting. People are now saying that it is not permitted because only paying guests and employees can access it.
I also see new confusion about military bases and military housing areas.
But remember ponyta and the innocent fun that used to be had feeding and playing with my little poke pony?
hello bonito fotos
Can there be a translate function when wayfaring abroad?
Hi, I'm from a foreigner from Peru
I see a portal is beautiful that they put in a photo there I see above
Est ce normal que depuis ce matin je ne puisse plus voter j'ai ceci
I don't see a requirement for the wayspot to be "touchable" anymore; is this also rescinded? The closest I can see is "safe and publicly accessible by pedestrians", but it could be argued that it is safe to reach a wayspot within the 'action range' in the game.
Example: a statue in a roundabout/traffic circle may not have pedestrian access right up to the statue itself, but is likely still safely reachable within the game 'action range' from the outer-edge sidewalk.
For the record, I think these should still require "touchability", but I can see this point needing clarification.
Merci mais ceci est revenu à la normale 24h apres desoler ne pas vous avoir tenue au courant
There are some game actions that require players to be directly at the Wayspot (ex. Ingress's ultra strikes), so the object must have safe pedestrian access. Otherwise, you put the player in physical danger while performing said actions.
