Got a cooldown today after rejecting a few egregious house stops :<
I assume it was deny because it don't meet standers. Houses, Private property, lamps don't make the stop/gym. I hate when people waste my time with this. They mark a side walk as a trail outside their house, Antique cars, trees, bird feeders, bunch of stuff that do not meet standers.
It does not meet them. Fake Pokémon stops excepted would encourage other players to abuse the situation and they may take this great gift away from us if we do not act responsible in excepting real nominations.
The most "I want a Pokestop at my House" type "I want a Pokestop at my House" submission ever !
I had a funny one the other day (I forgot to screenshot though) the person took a photo of his/her house with the reason that there aren’t a lot of shops nearby and the people in the street would like a stop local so they never had to explore places during COVID-19 (standard house stop rejection).
The silly thing was, looking on streetview, they lived a few doors from a public park entrance which would have been acceptable if they choose to approve that (and based on proximity would have been able to spin from thier house still) but no, they chose to nominate thier house
thats a "I want my house to be a PokeStop" :D
What's this, a rattling toys for baby (didn't know the correct term, sorry) that usually hangs on the ceiling or over the crib to help the baby to sleep, but many high school students who play Pokemon GO would visit the house during break time only to catch Pokemon?
Alright, that's beyond nonsense and funny.
Some joker took a photo of a $100 bill and submitted it in the middle of a farm road. It's not 100% clear to me if it's a home on the farm or if it's just a business farm, but I think the former.
I don't think anything I can say can speak better than this.
Problem is if you reject junk submissions like posted in this thread, your rating drops faster than a pierced baloon.
Because Niantic wants us to just approve everything.
to be fair to some, given the way this supporting info is written... I am a VERY Rural player, we must drive 5km to get to a pokestop, while we live in an area rich in history, it is hidden with no info boards/history signs, no footpaths as that starts killing our countryside, only verges which are our paths but reviewers deem them as no pedestrian access. So, I googled how to get a pokestop in rural areas and, according to google, there used to be a form that you could access through the help page on the pogo app to request a pokestop by your home. So perhaps people genuinely think they are allowed to request this.
Even if you did request it im sure you’d still have to have something that qualifies with the criteria.
Also that is extremely false! Rate with criteria those things will never pass so tryin to give it a positive review will tank your rating not rejecting jt
But if Niantic want us to approve everything, why are some reviewers taking it upon themselves to turn down things that should have been accepted? What is the problem with passing stops in areas where there are none?
Niantic do not want us to approve everything, if they did there would be no wayfarer and an auto acceptance.
Regarding ‘What is the problem with passing stops in areas where there are none?’ There are multiple issues.
1) Forget PoGo, Ingress, HPWU for a second because as much of a current cash cow as they are, they won’t last forever. What will last forever is a POI database which can be sold/reused for other products. Allowing rubbish in there ruins the integrity of the database and thus devalues it if trying to sell it to another buyer.
2) Let’s just say I approve a submission in your back garden and it somehow becomes a gym in PoGo. Do you really want people swarming around your property to do a raid or to try take the gym. Even worse what if they can’t quite reach so need to go onto your property in order to get the gym? The same would apply to a school where we wouldn’t want a group of adults hanging around.
Whoa... hang on, It isn't my back garden and anywhere I have requested one was certainly a valid spot, albeit turned down... Again...it is not up to the reviewers to think about what happens if Niantic disappears?? that is nothing to do with the present, and is not our business for future... It is possible to request a stop to be removed so IF Niantic finished, they can delete their stops. Perhaps, if more reviewers stuck to the criteria, passed the stops supposed to pass, then there would be less **** submissions as there would be stops available in accessible places to everyone and there needs to be a look at the criteria required for extreme rural areas as these are areas that will never be allowed to be disrupted with info boards etc but there are many rural trainers.
I never said you did submit rubbish and I agree there are times that there are times where people incorrectly reject stuff (happened to us all)
As for rural waypoints, yes there are less but there are usually some (village hall, village church, village pub etc). There already is slightly more leeway regarding what is significant, but you need to prove it is important locally - Someone from Niantic (Casey I think) gave an example in another thread of how a local chain coffee shop was eligible in their hometown as that was one of the only things there and acted as a hyper spot - in a city it does not.
We are so rural, that our village is 5km away, and we have a point where people drive out here, park and walk as we are so rural, however, we can't have info boards etc so in this area, all we can submit is "natural features" unfortunately. Perhaps, given that Niantic can use our location, they could allow a poke stop & gym within a certain distance from homes.
They are allowed now - latest AMA
Natural features were previously explicitly excluded from eligibility but are now listed as examples of good Wayspots. Can you provide more information about any requirements for these locations?
Thanks for that.... but unfortunately though, we would be a Random hedgerow...🙃
What a honest submitter here 😂
Translation: "Let the village die out, not the tradition!" 😜
I think I got one where not only someone I think got away with claiming a local park's pavilion was near their house, but a memorial flagpole was also nearby (and neither scene looks to check out)
I got a wayspot today that, not only is someone claiming a memorial flagpole is near where they live it looks like (and the surrounding buildings don't check out), but they already got a wayspot by claiming a local park's pavilion is nearby.
Surrounding area in question: https://firstname.lastname@example.org,-75.948295,3a,75y,93.3h,79.03t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sxHi61cWypHZTAqVzeopxow!2e0!7i16384!8i8192
The nomination (and questionable wayspot already accepted noted in the nearby wayspot map)
No photo, but the guy who took a picture of a $100 bill and called it Benjamin Franklin Sculpture also submitted his christmas lights... ten meters from the other one in a rural location.
There should be no problem to reject this type of proposal, the new wayfarer criteria exposed in the help / photo guidelines section mentions the following:
Deny images where an alliance or player has been tagged (anything that is a symbol of any game)
I am completely sure that it is the reason that this proposal is not suitable. Based on the help section / photo guidelines: do not approve proposals that are symbolic of a game
just a small collection of people clinging to the last chance in their life to get a wayspot at home - submitting it without even leaving the home (well cuz of c-19 you know). i got these basicly following one each other. i had more than a dozen today.
