Universities?

No longer mentioned in Criteria as eligible or not.
I think if the previously eligible as a "nod to education" little free libraries made the cut, then universities still should be, but would love for the Criteria tab to specifically mention them one way or the other.

Maybe it would be nice if it were explicitly stated that they were eligible, but a universities definitely fall into the broad category of a great place for exploration.
Tons of pavillons at my city's university are pokestops.
That's what I am thinking, too. Just saw an answer in nomination improvement that thought otherwise.
@Euthanasio2-PGO it doesn't really matter what is currently a pokestop - we are supposed to be approving on what meets current criteria. That's why I asked about it in the clarifications discussion.
It would be nice to see them explicitly called as eligible under "a great place for [educational] exploration," but it should be very easy to write a description and supporting statement to help explain how they meet Eligibility Criteria.
I do NOT want to see people using it to try and nominate and induct every dormitory, sign, and directory, and general office on campus.
Why make a specific point for something that will never be submitted?
How exactly would I submit my university, itself, as a POI? It's is impossible to photograph, for example - not least because it is spread over 3 campuses (not to mention the other minor sites on top!). I can't imagine any university being small enough to be a waypoint.
It is the things within universities that you need to think about, not universities themselves.
3 campuses? Good for you. That's 3 possible POI. Maybe choose the main entrance and submit that as a representation of the building.
I thought that it was obvious my question was about nominations ON campus, not for a campus - which is easy btw to submit via the sign. It seems like everything on a university campus was getting approved before. I personally have been approving educational buildings only, not dorms, but now the criteria does not list "education". However, help still has the bit about public libraries being eligible as "A nod to education and discovery, a cornerstone of Niantic" so I will continue to approve those educational buildings as a great place for [mind] exploration like @JSteve0-ING said in the first reply.

Welp, your new distinction was abundantly NOT clear in your original post.
But to your new point, a university campus is generally a big, open, public space. There are very often many things on the property that are eligible, my local SMALL campus has a plethora of statues, murals, pubs, theatres, and on and on. None of that would be excluded from being nominated simply for being ON the property, so long as it would be an acceptable nomination regardless of location.
