Regarding criteria clarification

So the new criteria clarification page has 64 discussions some of which are very controversial and Niantic has replied to ~ 4 ~ of them. Are reviewers supposed to just decide all these controversies among themselves or what am I supposed to make of this?
I'm genuinely interested - if it is your intention to have the community resolve all those questions then please just tell us because this has large implications on how I review.
Just as an example: Under the old criteria certain Post Boxes in the UK were eligible. But since all the old criteria has been thrown out the window reviewers could rightly assume that now they fall under "mass produced" and are therefore not eligible anymore (or at least that's how some people argue). Same goes for my personal all time favourite - trail markers.
Whatever the larger plan is here - a little communication would be great.

Maybe some will get clarificated after the november AMA, but that would by far not be everything.
Under the "new" guidelines, playgrounds isn't stated an acceptable item, and playgrounds are genuinely mass produced, lots of towns have them, I mean you could say they "encourage" the exercise thing, but as they aren't stated in black & white, are we to reject them now too?
Playgrounds are both great places for exercise and great places for being social. Theyvwould still be acceptable for those reasons, as well as falling under the umbrella of parks

No if you argue the way some people in the criteria clarification now do..
Just because something isn't explicitly stated to be eligible, it isn't automatically ineligible. The criteria page lists examples of eligible nominations, not a comprehensive list.
Please, use your common sense until the new criteria gets clarified a bit more. I would argue that if something was explicitly stated to be eligible in the previous criteria (e.g. playgrounds, places of higher education), they should still be considered eligible, unless stated otherwise (in the existing criteria or in a clarification). If Niantic wants to do a complete 180 on a type of PoI, they should be very clear about it.
If Niantic wants to go back to clarifying stuff via the AMA's that's absolutely fine with me but in that case they should probably rename the section. For a place that is called criteria clarification there is very little clarification going on there at the moment.
For post boxes in UK, there will be arguments that all can be used now as well for cultural aspect (red post boxes are a massive part of British culture) or community aspect. So really it will just become reviewers choice .... so probs won't change at all as niantic made no effort to make it clear the guidelines had changed on the actual wayfarer site. Several people i know who review regularly weren't aware of the changes till I told them
It's all complete arbitrariness at this point.
