As an Australian, just clarifying how distance affects the games. The cities are more dense and 40m would be fine (especially with the higher number of wayspots). A large part of Australia's population (maybe even most) live in suburban areas, and I can see increased distance being useful there as waypoints are more sparse (but never sparse enough to be rare or needing increased distance ranges). With PoGo's rules for waypoints, it'll probably similar across the world.
I am all for the 40m limit, as Niantic always said it was a temporary change. I also agree with the aforementioned posts that the reasons to keep it are being exaggerated. The game's are about exploration and movement after all, convenience isn't a justifiable reason to make things easier in a super easy game as it is. Maybe if 80m is to be kept, then sacrifices have to be made to justify that distance (eg. can only spin a stop once per day or something - after all, can't have your cake and eat it too!).
Catan World Explorers went from being 32m to 80m and now it's at 50m (source). 32m was workable but a bit small, 80m was too big as you could reach everything without moving or making any effort. 50m feels good as you can still get most things, but do still have to move to get everything. Maybe a middle ground could be a possible resolution?
I believe the changes within PoGo caused internal problems, and consequently caused the resignation of some Wayfarer members. In my country the Wayfarer is not well regarded by the community, so it makes me think that they preferred to blame the platform for criticism.
As the OP @Gendgi-PGO clearly stated above: The whole 40m discussion is not the topic, so please stop it (here)!
The subject is the absence of the Niantic staff in the Wayfarer forum.
[ And yes, the discussions about the interaction radius could currently tie up forces elsewhere at Niantic, but most of the contributions here are not about that, but about the effects in a specific game and are clearly off topic. ]
Now getting back to the original point of this thread, the lack of involvement from Niantic is probably why I can only recall one user (and their multiple accounts) ever being banned. The lack of involvement means staff do not step in when users start tearing chunks out of each other. It does not take much from staff to create a calmer atmosphere. Remember the saying, "the fish rots from the head down."
I’ve only seen @NianticVK step in lately and looking at the list we have maybe 10+ Niantic names who may be forum staff (I doubt NianticBrian will do much on this forum for example).
As others have mentioned, perhaps some restructuring is going on whilst the team grows and we are getting a “proper” Wayfarer team as it seemed before it was bits from other teams rather than a team of it’s own making. Some transparency on what’s happening with that would be nice to whenever everyone decides to log back in/remembers their passwords.
Ohhh. Is this the thread where we can wildly speculate?
I think that the people who didn't get the upgrades and in game items are suing. They been served with discovery which is the reason they can't delete accounts.
Can we get the linking under fields if there's going to be a massive delay in reviewing removal requests? It appears they're not being looked at. I know the truly dangerous ones are few and far between but there's a lot people choosing lack pedestrian access for stuff they simply can't get to because private property or other restrictions but all that has to shifted through to find the dangerous ones.
The previous upgraded stuff directly after the Russian event was good and approvable for the first day or 2 then it was terrible stuff with a very high percentage of ineligible garbage. So many 1*s.
So i wouldnt really put to much into it - if it isnt Casey or Giffard, there will some other Nickname come up here and "circle back" with informations someday. Or never.
I apologize on behalf of my whole moderator team for less engagement on forums past few days. With the help of NianticVK, we'll make sure to be more active and responsive to your queries from now onward.
I'll scan through the discussions and follow-ups and ensure to address your queries/appeals/reports as soon as possible.

Just throwing this out there, I don't have a job, how do I send my resume to Niantic?
I can do Italian translations! Some things in Pokémon Go are so wrong...
Niantic has given up my dude.
to be honest, we still do not know if these Accounts are real people.
It could be John with different Accounts that does all this here.
Is @NianticCasey-ING a real person? is @NianticGiffard real?
This being the internet, what *is* even real?
Am I you?
No, but it could be.
So i wouldnt really put to much into it - if it isnt Casey or Giffard, there will some other Nickname come up here and "circle back" with informations someday. Or never.

Welcome back from your break folks. It’s been totally fine without you here. Ignore the small fire in the corner. We totally dealt with it.
