With the recent changes to Pokémon GO in some locations, I’m seeing feedback from fellow Wayfarers who also play Pokémon GO that their main concern is a lack of response from Niantic on any issues or concerns raised about the Niantic game that they play.
As an Ingress player if I have a concern I can contact support, as Pokémon GO players are advised to do. However I did have an issue a little while ago that I’ll share where Support were unresponsive. I was able to then take this to the Ingress Community Forums;
Where another player was kind enough to tag the Ingress Community Manager and they were able to get the issue all resolved.
If a Pokémon GO player is in a similar position, what’s their resolution in this? They have no forum to go to and no official Niantic place (yes, you could say the social media accounts, but the folks running those will care about metrics and such, not individual responses (You’ll also see I went to their social media in that thread and got nowhere)) for these players to reach out. So far every other Niantic game has one.
I’d appreciate if @AnsonNIA-PGO & @NianticGiffard as our main two Niantic folks could review this thread and at least pass it along to the Pokémon GO team or relevant team for further discussions?
I've made friends, good friends, through my pokemon go community, like I've been out for lunch with them and the like. I even met my girlfriend through pokemon go. Trying to say pogo isn't a community is a load of bull, maybe you're area doesn't, but where I'm from it very much is
So, how do you and your community deal with cheating in games internally within the community?
It's hard to get people to listen to what we want when you have no discipline, at least in yourself and the community, and don't follow the terms of service set by Niantic.
As it stands, I can't see any benefit to creating a Pokémon GO forum except for the purpose of isolating healthy players from criminals.
Given that my community for the most part doesn't have cheats (apart from mukti accounts, but no one cares about that) that isn't an issue.
Again, you claim its not.a community, yet there's lots of stories of people meeting friends and the like through pogo. If you're community isn't good, then that's yours, but could argue the same on ingress, that not ever community is good
Pokémon GO as a community is very spread about between things like The Silph Road & local groups on Discord etc. Whilst some are great, like it seems gazza89’s local one as they go out for meals and stuff, some aren’t. The same happens with Wayfarer and Ingress but at least there’s somewhere central for all users to come and discuss issues that affect everyone that they know Niantic see.
I think as tp235 says, it’s sometimes hard for Ingress players to see Pokémon GO players as a “Community” when things like multi-accounting which are very much not tolerated within Ingress (where you would have your own team report you if you did it for example) is treated so causally within the Pokémon GO space excuses like “everyone does it, so it’s fine”.
Oh, I fully expect their answer to be to package the extended distance into a subscription and offer everyone a free trial for 60 or 30 days and then charge £5/$5 a month for it along with some other bonuses. Many people spend much more than just on some other in game items so they’ll do it for sure.
With the little ammount of data and resources Niantic puts into its forums, opening an official PoGO forum would be so overwhelming, Niantic would need to invest more for keep the forums in all aspects
I dont think it would be good idea to open a PoGO forums, Niantic is not even prepared and doesnt looks like they have any kind of willing to do so, besides who knows what does the contract with the pokemon company says, perhaps are them that are allowed to run a pogo forums and they simple dont want because in the end they have a pokemon forums (for all games)
I value your feedback, @PkmnTrainerJ-ING, thanks for sharing this! I'll ensure to pass it on to the appropriate team to see if we can make it possible.
That being said, I'll close this thread since it is out of scope for discussion in the Wayfarer forum.

Hopefully, since niantic is now trending, we'll technically hearusniantic is, that might finally make them
1. Listen to the community
2. Make a community forum so people can finally make suggestions
The community that Pokémon GO trainers think they are in is not a community.
It's just a raid battle mutual aid society.
It's just a wild alliance that tolerates cheating by itself and its opponents because it benefits itself.
It's a completely different kind of community than the one in Ingress.
Pokémon GO trainers should start now to build a real community and friendships where they can discuss each other's life problems.

Some good points from @gazzas89-PGO & @tp235-ING I think.
Just my thoughts on your thoughts.
(Psst, Niantic…your internal cross-functional team might want to also look here)
Following the spammy hashtags on the player side, as one of the Wayfinders, I have a question.
Take dangerous roads, private property,etc
Pssst, that will just be a pr answer, they won't do anything or will charge for it 🤣🤣🤣
You have already failed to establish a healthy community at the level of morality where you tolerate multiple accounts.

Thats your opinion. I'd say my community is very healthy, with friendships and more built up. Honestly, you just sound like a bitter person
Come on, man. Keep it friendly. This is one of our problems in this game. We need to get along & support each other
An additional thread that may be better on a Pokémon GO forum (or might benefit from the neutral language);
Another “This is why a Niantic Pokémon GO forum should be considered”
