Unfortunately I don’t think any niantic employees work this forum anymore. It’s lawlessness around here
You only get two chances at the test. The test is fairly easy so you shouldn't need more than that. If you've failed it both times, then that's unfortunate, but they won't give you another chance.
You get two attempts at the review test. If you fail twice that’s it.
so how can i take the review test again.i really want to do some work for portal review
As we've said before, you don't get a third chance. That's it.
if i can't portal review, i won't have a perfect game expericen,it's regret. is there any other way to retake in portal review?thanks!
Not unless Niantic changes their rules in the future, no. The whole purpose of the test is to show that you've read and understood the guidelines for wayspots, and I'm pretty sure Niantic doesn't want people to keep trying until they get lucky and pass.
Yeah, it's a terrible system and it doesn't help new reviewers at all. Seems to be significantly more draconic than when I did it years ago. There are too many gatchas in it for people who are inexperienced, even if they've read and paid attention to the criteria.
Niantic needs to change it. But until then, it's apparently there to sabotage people's experiences unless they take paranoia-ic care in answering the test. Teach people. Don't punish them forever. But here we are. :/
@CipherBlakk-PGO I have been reviewing since the OPR beta launch to L16 Ingress players. Even then you only got two shots at taking the test and if you failed that was it. I don't believe it has ever been more lenient. The whole point of the test is to weed out people who aren't competent to review.
@LazerosX-PGO Did you just advocate for violating Niantic's TOS on a Niantic forum?
how can u have failed the test? if u read the criterias i dont see how u can fail it....
People watch the YouTube videos that tell them what answers to select and still fail somehow. I don’t get it.
YouTube videos, using existing Waysptos as a guide of what is eligible, etc. In short, they reference everything but the criteria itself. It also hurts that they don't actually read the question being asked. For example the question about an object inside a roundabout was asking about location accuracy, but people missed it because they were looking at which answer would result in the nomination being rejected.
To be fair, I remember one question that had me stumped, that being if something had safe pedestrian access, it was a fountain in the middle of a round about, with tuk tuks and cars going round itnim the picture...... but also a market, on it that looked lied the cars and tuk tuks were weaving through, I just picked yes and I've passed but eveb still, not a clue if it's right or not lol
I have a terrible time trying to muster up sympathy here. If you’re not going to learn the guidelines and take it seriously enough to pass a very simple exam after two tries, what would inspire confidence that you’re going to adhere to the guidelines and take it seriously when you start reviewing?
What level are you on ingress ?
It's simply wrong methodology. Lock someone out after only two tries? I'm pretty competent on the criteria and I know other people just as competent and they've struggled with it. The majority of these people want to improve the game. The current system is designed in such a way that it fails to properly teach someone, doesn't tell them what they got wrong or why, and offers no learning opportunities. The need is to educate reviewers to competency, not ban them forever after JUST two tries after throwing a ton of info at them. That's ridiculous. Where are the practice tests? Where are the lists of common mistakes? Everything about the system is poor design, doesn't do anything to help people tackle the backlog, and promotes dishonest methods just because people know it's do or die, and then you have uninformed reviewers like we do now.
Wayfarer is about maintaining/developing the Wayspot database. This is different than, and sometimes in conflict with, "improving the game."
Agreed - what is "the game"?
Ninety-nine point something percent of people come to Wayfarer due to one or another of Niantic’s location-enabled games. ‘The game’ seems as good a shorthand as any, as ‘the games’ in this context could falsely imply that all Wayfarers arrive here after playing more than one title.
I think there are many circumstances where people from other languages/cultures, or young people, could be tripped-up in their test-taking experiences, where a lifelong ban would not be appropriate.
Minor computer-glitches, sporadic guideline/AMA/NIA-moderator comments, language issues or mental lapses need not lead to permanent banning.
This exactly. "What is the game" - really, now? The entire point is for gameplay, and not a single person is here for any other reason.
A few days, even a week before a second attempt isn't terrible. A month? Way too long. Maybe a month works as a recurring gate after the second or third attempts, and every attempt thereafter. Let people make mistakes without stabbing them in the face. Permabanned for nothing? You have an excited Wayfarer hopeful reading through criteria, nodding as they go, thinking they understand it, and then getting tripped up on some mysterious unknown that's evidently not as straightforward as the criteria or process led them to believe, and it isn't specified. They have zero new frame of reference because of it and learn nothing. Reviewing criteria doesn't help because they don't know which aspect of their interpretation they need to correct.
If this person still cares to try again, they'll cheat next time. And then what's actually been achieved by this process, besides nothing at all?
It's just a really bad system.
You may get a chance someday depending on if whether or not Niantic decides whether or not to allow people to take the test again.
Thank you for being honest @fr0zenrain-ING & for not cheating to pass the test
It's pretty unfair to ban someone forever. At least once a year someone should have the chance to take the test again. People are often willed to learn and do better, so they should get that chance. Else they can simply create and level other accounts and do take the test again there and maybe be successfull then, so where would be the difference?
I agree with you. I don’t even ban people forever in discord channels that I run even if I catch them spoofing in hopes that they learn their lesson & won’t do it again. With the test though users that fail need to be taught to do better. I agree. We need people reviewing. Just because they failed doesn’t mean they should be punished. We all need to do better. All of us. No one is perfect
Many people fail the test. That leaves the job to the best to decide for us.
So sad it takes them so long time to review nominations. It can take years for them to decide on all the nominations coming in because they can't catch up
