Submissions NEEDING to be upgraded to go though and lacking upgrades

Since March I have submitted 24 waypoints. 10 of which have made it through the queue so far.

I understand there may not be many reviewers in my area. (Which really sucks for the long buildup of nominations - I play 30 minutes outside of a capital city so I am not in the middle of nowhere) However it seems that my nominations MUST be upgraded for them to be processed. The last time I’ve had a nomination go through without an upgrade was in March and the 9 others that got rejected or approved all had to be upgraded.

Also the upgrades do not seem to correlate with reviews properly.  I have reviewed over 2300 nominations and have only received 11 upgrades.  I review quite a bit but it is getting really annoying to have to review so much just to get one nomination through the queue (usually resulting in eligible submissions getting denied) My stats are posted below.

A lot of people I play with have given up long ago, without anything this annoying happening to them. Things are changing I get that but when it’s a game that requires players to work and help build the game for everyone else - across different apps - shouldn’t it be a higher priority to make sure things are actually happening?

upgrades aren't from number of reviews but from agreements (Nominations Accepted + Nominations Rejected + Nominations Duplicated)

so 890 agreements for you that would be 8 upgrades. (i suppose you got 3 more from wayfarer challenges)

somewhere along the line you got 3 free upgrades.

You get upgrades for agreements (roughly 880 based on your stats), not just for reviewing (2300 in your stats).

If I'm not mistaken your upgrade counter will only advance once you're in Good or Great.

If you're at 30 minutes from a major city you're still in range of that player base, normally you get reviews from a (approx) 200 km / 130 miles radius around your location, so unless you already travel by Hyperloop you should be ok.

As @Thor3381-ING said, you will only get upgrade credits for agreements when your rating is good or great. Based on your stats you only agree with other reviewers about 38% of the time, but it's impossible to know how many of the others are ones where you disagreed with the consensus vs. ones that haven't reached a decision yet. Unless nearly all of your reviews have been in the last two months my guess is that your rating is fair or poor.

You forgot the invisible "edit agreements" number. You need to calculate it though.

No my rating is great. That’s part of the backlog issue I’m referring to. That none of that is getting processed.

like the last time any of my nominations have gone through without being upgraded was in March.

I’m getting lots of winter nominations now as well, which is really unfortunate for the hope of the “”Queue”” like do you have to dig through into the bottom of the pile to get to the oldest ones. Then they just keep piling in on top.

Well, the amount of reviews needed for an upgrade is high, yes. But that ratio needs to outweigh the amount of reviews for a nomination by a bit, so the process actually helps shortening the 'non-upgrade-queue'.

Niantic never disclosed how many agreements a nomination needs to pass (and it might not even be a fixed number), but assume that it's like 30 on average, meaning that for the 100 agreements you got, another 30 from others are needed, meaning your net impact is only 70 agreements, or around 2.3 decisions on other nominations worth of reviewing.

So basically you get yours pushed to the front, for you getting decisions made on a bit over 2 other nominations. That ratio doesn't appear to be all that bad?

(I know, no backup on numbers, but it's about the general principle. You don't 'decide' 100 for a minimal gain, depending on perspective the advantage you get is fairly large, ESPECIALLY when you consider how long the queue is in certain areas)
