The official ones do but Little Free Library allows you to just build your own and then register it with them.
And yeah if it’s on private property it’s not allowed but people usually install them on the **** of grass between the sidewalk and curb which, at least in the US, is public property.
It’s true that the official kits are quite expensive, but you can build your own and register it with Little Free Library for a lot cheaper and it’s still an official LFL.
And of course PRP applies but at least in the US I always see them installed on the grass between the curb and the sidewalk which is public property in the US.
Im not seriously proposing everybody go and actually do this, it’s just funny that people cook up all these crazy schemes to try to fake POIs for home waypoints when there’s a much easier option that will generally sail through review right there.
Are you actually serious it got accepted when myself and this community all agreed it was abuse because it's submitter created/fake.
Niantic you need to look into who accepted this and investigate this because it could be something more serious ie multi accounter in the area or people in the local community accepting it.
Stuff like this is why I almost never review portals anymore.
There is so much junk from Pokemon players, (yes not all of you, but a substantial percentage). Then I get penalised for downvoting junk because people are "Need moar stops here".
Then to add salt into the wound, Niantic dump foursquare db into the mix with no quality vetting. (Hey let's 5 star everything and put portals in the middle of bodies of water , unsafe crime areas etc so our Ingress players **** themselves reclaiming portals that some crazy went and captured).
Then, our community manager, who turns out to be a Pokemon player first and not Ingress, suggests we cleanup the Foursquare submissions, then claims later that it was a joke request when the players expresses dismay at the suggestion and unsurprisingly learns, (for the first time apparently) that Ingress players actually really care about the quality of the db.
I have more evidence to submit to this thread on this super fakery, I have no idea how it got through, given that I know lots of UK reviewers all voted 1* abuse on this one, I suspect there was lots of multi-account upvoters and people abusing the system because this is local to them.
The submitter (Austin Brown) has created his own Google Photosphere which is now gone, not sure if it's because he's removed it himself, or it was mass reported to Google as fake as well - https://i.imgur.com/Aq0hUBn.jpg - I dare say he probably lives very close by, enough to spin the 80 meter interaction radius, so one of these houses around this is probably his home - Followed up by the fact he was instant to cap the portal - https://i.imgur.com/dtP72yZ.jpg
That I don't get... Again, maybe people 1* as abuse? And since that may not count as a reject its somehow getting through? Orrrr it's issues with a ring of people just 5* things to get approved which is also abuse... IDK
Yeah, like I said it was probably reported to Google as fake, as @YouLostAStar-ING mentioned, I think I also reported the sphere as fake, but at least I have proof he did create one.
Secondly, I also believe the guy is multi-accounting, as looking at the portal in my screenshot above, the 2 usernames are similar, a name, followed by 4 numbers which are probably birthdays. Austin 3rd of December, Ciara 24th of September, no doubt a secondary account, but that's just speculation that I can't prove.
Again, it shows how with enough people (and enough accounts, looking at you pogo players) organized, anything in Wayfarer, no matter what it is, can be upvoted and pass through.
honestly this is on niantic. the nominate flow in pokemon go doesn’t really explain that pois are used completely differently in other games so they have no way of knowing that more pokestops, which absolutely makes go more playable and fun, has a negative impact on other games.
honestly there should be a wayfarer app you get access to when your game account is the right level that gives proper context on how submissions are used because i imagine the go players are as frustrated as you are because they just want their game to be better and then get denied over and over for reasons that don’t make sense from a go only perspective.
I concur that waypoints are used differently in different games and that has a huge impact.
However - I would also argue that junk submissions are.... junk. Sure it may give you an extra stop/gym, but part of augmented reality is supposed to be discovering cool things in your area, or, if you are into Ingress, cool stuff 100's of km or up mountain trails.
Submitting junk just dilutes the experience for all and is selfish.
i think some stuff isn’t necessarily junk though. things like subdivision name signs, coffee shops, local businesses, dormitory courtyards, etc, tend to require a ton of justification to get through review now but they’re really only clutter in some of the games. if there was a second tier of pois that was only for games where poi density is desirable i think these things still encourage exploration. certainly we don’t want people nominating every street sign and cool rock, but there’s some stuff that’s borderline that would make a lot of go players happy.
As somebody who plays more Ingress than PoGo, I can say that I actually need density in Ingress much more than I do in Pogo. In fact, I love, love, love finding things to submit in crowded areas and squeezing them in and then later use them for max-fielding
But I still don’t want crappy wayspots. Interesting, well-presented coffee shops I always would vote for. Other types of interesting local businesses, too, but they need to be very well presented. Transmission or tire shops, for example, would have a very high barrier to entry for me. The trouble is that 95% of submissions for businesses are very poorly done. A random dorm courtyard would most likely be a big no unless there was something specifically eligible there. And I want more (good quality) wayspots!
Subdivision name signs and dormitory courtyards will likely always get a 1* for me. The principal reason why waypoints are in game should not be because "it will make Go players happy". I always give full marks to academic buildings on college campuses but I treat dorms as a domicile. Subdivision name signs have a very high hurdle to prove artistic merit: they're an ad, like a billboard, for a business. Coffee shops, restaurants, and unique, significant-to-the-communuty local businesses? Those are both in a separate category altogether. They can be quite eligible and interesting!
While I agree that the courtyard itself likely doesn’t meet criteria, dorms are not private residential property. If there was a legitimate point of interest such as a volleyball court, it would qualify
Sorry for the delay & thanks for the appeal. We have reviewed the report and have taken action on 2 Wayspots and the Wayfinder in accordance with our policies. While we are unable to discuss our actions in detail to protect the submitter’s privacy, they may include, but are not limited to, sending a warning message, placing restrictions on their Wayfarer, Pokémon GO, or Ingress account, putting their account on probation, or placing a temporary or permanent suspension on their Wayfarer, Pokémon GO or Ingress account. Thanks for helping us maintain the quality of the Wayspots.
I'm not saying that dorms are PRP. I'm saying that they're a domicile, like an apartment or a condo, and that they do not meet eligibility criteria as the dorm building itself because their primary use is not for higher learning. It's for shelter and a place to rest and a place to use illegal panini presses or whatever has taken the place of the ubiquitous hotpot of my youth. Same as fraternity/sorority houses. The proposed courtyard would be eligible if there was a sign or official name/dedication plaque, maybe, but otherwise it's just some vague space.
Quick question, for those of us that 1 starred this, do we get our agreement now that it's been removed, or is that lost forever even though we were correct?
Are you really worried about 1 "review point" in the great scheme of things? If you are a regular reviewer then 1 review means very little. 1 point = about 0.0025% of my "agreed review" totals.

Actually, little free libraries cost hundreds of dollars
Not to mention, ineligible if on grounds of private residential property.

You think that was the worst?
Check this one out:
- Taken from a car
- License plates visible (4 of them)
- Fake wayspot (there's literally nothing there)

Hi all.

Here is the full image - https://i.imgur.com/3CLvESs.jpg - You can see the lines don't align with the electrical box whatsoever, upon closer inspection, the ray is painted on a piece of canvas, or card or something, and just stood/leant up against the electrical box for the purpose of creating a home pokestop, I guarantee it'll get moved and resubmitted somewhere else, far enough away to not be seen on the nearby/duplicates. Secondly, here is the link to the actual submission photo where you can zoom in even further in high detail - https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/nUODMgSN9g-6czZiMipazg3gLKXJE2EVVC4_PM9fV49KhMU0sXEG34v1mqwGhLhu0n3yA-XVDj5Q4SQtxGvRBTGbgSCnqYOYgHI6yYLF=s0

@NianticGiffard - Please can you pick this up.
That's a bad picture, but there does appear to be a post office in that building.
@Belahzur-ING Ah so there was a photosphere at some point.
When I reviewed it there was no sign of one - and a friend remembers the same lack of photosphere / problematic location.
if it’s any help I reviewed on 14th August.
I reported the photosphere when I reviewed it and asked others in the chat to also report it so maybe Google took the sphere down
How is this guy still here, I see that his alt account @mabuk01a1-PGO got banned, just boot him already he's only disruptive and a troll.

Well bugger, I rejected that, thats one agreement down
Quick question, for those of us that 1 starred this, do we get our agreement now that it's been removed, or is that lost forever even though we were correct?
No agreement when niantic takes the action
Are you really worried about 1 "review point" in the great scheme of things? If you are a regular reviewer then 1 review means very little. 1 point = about 0.0025% of my "agreed review" totals.
I have a loooooooooooot of submissions in queue/voting. I've been reviewing like mad but still it's slow going, so yeah, every 1 agreement is needed
