Any possible improvement on this restaurant nomination?

Tried this restaurant three times now, never receive any rejection reason which I could relate to. Anything I can do to get this approved?

Had different supplemental stuff:

The description/supplemental information are both well-made.

Streetview/Maps marker existing:

Rejection reasons:

1st time:

Mismatched location (shows that the reviewer has an IQ under 50 lol)

Submitter Identifiable (no I am not visible in the photo)

Person (no one is visible inside the photo)

2nd time:

Seasonal or temporarily (no it's not)

Doesn't meet acceptance criteria (questionable)

3rd time:

Doesn't meet acceptance criteria (questionable)

Mismatched location (shows that the reviewer has an IQ under 50 lol)

Private property (shows that the reviewer don't understand this rejection reason)

This is actually one of the most popular restaurants in my city (1.8 million inhabitants) which should totally meet criteria (at least in my point of view) as a great place for (exploration and) being social.

5.0* on TripAdvisor and 4.8* on Maps (better than the Eiffel Tower lol)

I know that the photo is not perfect but there is no other option other than the whole house, which is impossible since the restaurant is 24/7 visited.

The link I used: https://kiekmo.hamburg/artikel/essen-trinken/der-gyros-spezialist-holt-euch-das-knusperfleisch

Anything I can do here? I don't want to waste more upgrades on that. However, I need to upgrade to even get a result. Queretimes of 3 years or longer makes "Just let it unupgraded" impossible.

The first primary picture, straight-on, is the best one.

The composite Supporting picture is the worst. Trying too hard - could scare reviewers.

By explaining away every rejection reason without anyone's input - it looks like you don't want anyone's input, because you believe you already know what they mean, and you can't consider that maybe someone else might see something different.

However, I'll take the risk of trying to think of a different explanation for one rejection reason.

Did you go into your Wayfarer nominations, and into street view, using your own pin? I ask because, getting "mismatched location" TWICE makes me think there's some kind of map anomaly here.

Can we get a translation for the description/ supporting info for those who don’t speak german lol 😅. Your nomination is probably fine but the restaurant curse n such :/

Just put them into translator. Should be the correct translation, at least I havent found a mistake.

    Description:

The gyros specialist has been a family-run company since 1983. In addition to the multi-award-winning gyros, there are also other Greek / classic dishes. In addition to the huge portions and affordable prices, the restaurant shines above all with its excellent taste. The restaurant is known throughout Hamburg and counts as an involuntary meeting point due to the long waiting times. Many come here from all over the city or the surrounding area just for the excellent gyros

    Supplemental information:

Restaurants are eligible if they are considered a hotspot / insider tip.  This is clearly the case here.  Unfortunately, there is no better picture.  Another link to a website: https://kiekmo.hamburg/artikel/essen-trinken/der-gyros-spezialist-holt-euch-das-knusperfleisch

    The pin should be alright.

Streetview is kinda old but still shows the restaurant. So that should not be the problem.

@LukeAllStars-ING I would cut the following sentence out of your supporting statement: "Restaurants are eligible if they are considered a hotspot / insider tip. This is clearly the case here."

It's the job of reviewers to decide that it's "clearly the case of an eligible nomination", and not of the submitter. This could be perceived as 'leading the reviewer to vote a certain way'. I would.

Instead I would put that URL in the supporting statement that explains it's a 30-year business. Explain it isn't part of a chained, larger business. make sure to mention it's a family business, and when taking the picture for supporting photo, focus on that little terrace there. It's a bit behind the shrubs, but if it's exposed a bit, people might see it's a cozy place to sit.

Restaurants are still tricky, as they were considered 'generic business' in the pre-Wayfarer days. The guidelines on that weren't exactly clear.

Sounds correct. Will try that. BTW I already have the URL in the supplemental information.

I hate, hate, hate when the nomination tells me what is eligible. I know you think it’s eligible. You wouldn’t have nominated it if you didn’t think it was eligible. It’s my job as a reviewer to know the criteria and apply them to the nomination, not to follow instructions from the nominator.

The text is clunky. Reduce the description to 1 sentence, or 2 short sentences at most. Use the supporting info (and not the supporting image) to add links to show relevance; try to use news pieces - not review sites - that detail awards it wins or community involvement.

But keep in mind that no matter what, many reviewers are inclined to reject restaurants on sight. Non-chain restaurants can be eligible, but reviewers are not perfect and do not apply the criteria perfectly, and often reject restaurants no matter what.

I think the description is too wordy. Seems too much like an advertisement.

Drop your streetview guy at the exact spots your pin was located. A photosphere could be located incorrectly there, so reviewers fall into the wrong place, and reject without switching to satellite view. Plenty of people have played with phostosphere, and not all of them knew how to place the pin on their early attempts - or really care if the got it wrong. I'm not talking about walking streetview. I'm talking about looking for an anomaly. If found, you'd have several options - put your pin at the opposite corner... use Supporting Info to explain the bad photosphere... put a correct photosphere on top of the bad one.

I was once foiled in a park, by a photosphere of a closet inside a now-closed hotel that had been nearby.

I think the primary approach to a misplaced photosphere should be reporting it to Google. That said, I haven't ever gone back to verify if a photosphere I've reported was actually moved/removed. Perhaps someone with more experience on that can chime in.

There are multiple ways of checking the location and realizing that my location is placed correctly

    1. The restaurant is visible in Google maps and has a marker
    2. The Streetview shows the restaurant (was google-made in 2009)
    3. You can simply click on the title of the nomination in order to google it. You will see the exact same location.
    4. You click the link I provided where the address is written
    5. You check OSM
    6. You just check the official website of the restaurant with the address

The Streetview isn't broken. I checked that, the pin is perfectly on the restaurant.

Sadly, I only got the photo I put into my supplemental picture as evidence for that.

The description is definitely not too wordy, although you can always improve the wording and grammar (though that's hard to critique, as a translation). For a restaurant, you want to be as clear and detailed as you can be, and everything you currently have is great info I would personally like to know about a restaurant: what dishes is it known for, if the prices are cheap, if people come from far away just to eat here. This is all part of what makes the restaurant a good POI, so definitely use them! Though I'm not sure I would include the bit about "long wait times = involuntary meeting point." You're kind of twisting that social criteria, and also making a negative point you could just leave out. If you wanted, I would suggest saying something like, "be sure to come early to avoid long waits due to popularity!" Or, you might say something about its social/friendly atmosphere.

You definitely CAN quote criteria in supporting info. There's nothing actually wrong with that, and it does not count as influencing reviewers. But I would put your space to saying what specific awards it has won, and for how many years, instead of quoting Google and Trip Advisor ratings. Those are very subjective, but an award is more concrete. I think you can say that "this is one of the most popular restaurants in a city of 1.8 million residents," and then use those awards to back up that statement. It also comes across better when you use your precious space to talk about the nomination specifically, instead of the nomination process. It looks confident, it looks like, "here's more direct info I just couldn't fit in the description, and I want to get right to the point." You can always frame your information around the social/exploration criteria to make it a little more obvious. Including the website can also help.

Generally, though, the point here is to defend your submission as a restaurant, and I think you've actually done a pretty solid job. At this point you're just tweaking things and hoping for luck. I would have 5*'d it based on your original description. You just need more reviewers that don't hate restaurants and appreciate a quality description.

After you submit again, I would try to let it sit for some months before using an upgrade. They say it lets more local people take a crack at it, which could be to your benefit.

It's not about the time. In the german Wayfarer community, I received a lot of positive feedback and also saw people having my nomination to review.
