In the town we have had these signs accepted before not from my submission either. If you read the sign it explains the reason from these drains to stop the town from flooding from rain water. It’s educational some people might find them interesting and you don’t.
Just to let you know a stop drain is a river.
Not only do these Stop drain rivers help my town not to get flooded they are great for local wildlife.
So it doesn’t meet any acceptance criteria. Past acceptance of things that didn’t meet the criteria doesn’t mean they should still be accepted (NCN Trails & Scout Huts used as just Scout Huts for example).
I don’t believe a dog waste bin would be eligible either and I strongly disagree with the reasoning they gave. For me it’s another example of the lowering of quality of wayspots.
That’s you opinion but when Niantic’s the one giving us the criteria to use then we go against that criteria that is unfair and abusive to other players.
Theres a difference between signs that promote exploration and exercise, and a signs thats just general directions, that one is clearly a direction sign, if its telling you "hospital is 1 mile that way, river x is 2 miles that way, town center is that way 1.5 miles, cycle route through here" then that's not exploration and exercise, that'd a directional sign
They are changing with the games needs and with what the community needs. Times change if people are unwilling to change then maybe it’s time to stop playing altogether.
This is where we disagree again. These signs are along a cycle route. Clearly marked out on trail websites. This is just a waypoint that tells people how close they are to things along the route as the route is 100 miles long around the North Norfolk coastline.
That’s a stupid thing to say 😂 it was originally a “point of interest” system. The idea behind that was that each portal/Pokestop was somewhere with special meaning and helped seperate the game from other AR games which used meaningless locations as their equivalent.
the idea was that we would review to the criteria to add new and interesting locations in many places.
at this point they seem to be on an “add any rubbish” programme so actually it’s becoming indistinguishable from the types of PoI in other games because they are just as generic. Doesn’t mean I will stop playing the games, my area is mostly clear of these types of terrible submissions because I wouldn’t submit a NCN marker, dog waste bin and other similar things which would never have been considered under the old criteria. There’s still around 150 points of interest in my town so It’s not like I’m going to miss a dog **** bin here and there 😉
Not at all. I’m a cyclist and i find the cycling route signs interesting because the lead me to places I’ve not seen or been before. That’s exploration. Someone out there might find dog waste bins interesting because they want to know how many a town or city has or needs. Interesting is a very personal thing. Just like feelings.
Wayfarer isn’t supposed to be a map of every bin, lamp and postbox. I’d strongly suggest you have another read of the criteria and maybe a anger management course?
Surely as a cyclist it’s going to be a bit of an annoyance to stop at all of these signs every time to hack the portal/spin the stop/grab energy at the inn?
That’s funny because you’ve completely misinterpreted the clarification in this thread and are trying to twist it to include the generic markers Gifford told us to 1*
You say that, but then Niantic answer your question clear as day, but you’re still disputing it.
Feel free to keep submitting the NCN markers, and carry on lying in the supporting and misquoting Niantic. We’ll carry on rejecting for abuse, and fingers crossed your wayfarer access will be terminated, sooner the better by the look of things.
I would like @NianticGiffard to come forward and clarify what he said then. He was asked what is generic he come out and answered. A sign that says Bike lane isn’t that interesting but a sign that leads along a route to another location is the definition of exploration.
Purely out of curiosity. I don’t play whilst on a bike. I wondered if you’d have to stop each time, get off your bike, get your phone out, and interact with the waypoint and then get back on until the next one.

Is it the old thing from that global group of “It’s a sign, it must be a point of interest?” 😆
Can’t see what criteria it meets either.
That’s all fine but it’s not;
So it doesn’t meet any acceptance criteria. Past acceptance of things that didn’t meet the criteria doesn’t mean they should still be accepted (NCN Trails & Scout Huts used as just Scout Huts for example).
It’s an informational sign educational if you actually stop to read it.
Why has this become a your subs are **** thread suddenly.
So an educational sign isn’t worthy but in Niantic’s eyes a dog waste bin could be.
I don’t believe a dog waste bin would be eligible either and I strongly disagree with the reasoning they gave. For me it’s another example of the lowering of quality of wayspots.

Have you ever considered what you don’t find interesting someone else might? Anything can be interesting to someone. Even a dog **** bin.
Look, no one finds a dog bin “interesting”, they will find it useful but certainly not interesting
I think you would be surprised on what people actually find interesting. Some strange people around
We discovered a long time ago that most submitters only “find something interesting” after they discover they might be able to submit them

i hope you did some stretches before that because that’s quite some reach
I’m not angry this is a debate. I know the criteria very well thanks. I tend to keep up with what Niantic wants.
Surely as a cyclist it’s going to be a bit of an annoyance to stop at all of these signs every time to hack the portal/spin the stop/grab energy at the inn?

Not at all. The games can be play walking or biking Niantic has been very clear on that. Or will someone now tell me I’m playing the games wrong?
You say that, but then Niantic answer your question clear as day, but you’re still disputing it.

@NianticGiffard am I wrong?
Actually after reviewing 5k Nominations I’m sitting at great reviewer so I’m doing something correct.
Purely out of curiosity. I don’t play whilst on a bike. I wondered if you’d have to stop each time, get off your bike, get your phone out, and interact with the waypoint and then get back on until the next one.
5k? Cute.
Tbf it’s not too hard to cap, hack and keep cycling. Although from experience the cars behind weren’t too happy
Unnecessary comment if you as me.
I play both walking and on a bike depends how I’m feeling tbh.
