Mailbox Gazebos/Pavilions

There is a new phenomenon around our area of mailbox gazebos/pavilions since the post office is now only delivering to a central location instead of going to every driveway. They look something like this photo, although this photo was taken at a townhome community.
I have been rejecting these because they are mailboxes, but I see some of them going through as gazebos. Thoughts?

While more visually appealing than just mailboxes and it's certainly nice to be sheltered from the rain, I can hardly see having a picnic or other social gathering at such a location.
Like you, I fail to see how that would encourage or facilitate social gatherings, exploration, or exercise and just shows how people want to stretch anything they can into a "5 * gazebo."
I don't think these meet any acceptance/eligibility criteria
There is one near where I play that is a stop, and I asked someone in the community if they minded, and they said that it was fun to meet players from ingress, pogo, and wizards, I asked if they played, and they said no, but they welcomed friendly faces in the community. so i guess it can be a place to be social.
of course the one I am talking about has a notification board on it as well, so that might be why it was accepted
A notice board should be an easy thing to have accepted, especially if it's one for the local community and lists local goings on.
I’d 100% 1* this if it was called a gazebo. It’s not a gazebo. If it was called a shelter and showed benches… maybe.
I suppose some level of argument could be made for it being social (more than dog **** bind at least) but it would be a push.
@AScarletSabre-PGO Really? I had had a notice board rejected that was definitely informative, in a good location, and filled up. Should I resubmit it?
go for it! its is hit and miss though, I found the person that submitted the information board that was attached to the mailboxes, they said that they had to submit it like 8 times before it got accepted, and that they are trying to do another similar one on the other side of their community but it keeps getting rejected for all the favorite reasons. keep trying, hopefully you will get it.
Like the reply below you, they can be hit or miss. I provided a few examples of notice boards I've successfully submitted in parks and trails in this thread below that might be helpful.

Discuss what the board is intended for - it facilitates social interactions and encourages exploration of local events.
The U.S. has privacy laws for personal mail. Originally, legal paperwork had to be done in person. Deeds, wills, lawsuits, divorce, bankruptcy, inheritance, investments, etc - you'd have to ride your horse to the courthouse or lawyer's office.
Some places started allowing business by mail, but mobs and mafias would hang around your mailbox so you couldn't pick up the papers. Or because they knew it was a good place to ambush someone.
So the feds made it illegal to hang around mail boxes. Because that could be interfering with federal business.
A hard NO. That's an invasion of privacy.
That is very interesting! I would love to see the codes for that law!
in the meantime, this is interesting reading about how mailboxes are actually federal property. and if so, would that throw the prp rejection out the window for artistic and unique mailboxes?

A mailbox might be federal property, but still being located within PRP changes nothing.

Decorative mailboxes: we not longer know if they are PRP. Could you please clarify?
I don't think that is a "new" thing. Every townhouse community built in the last decade I have lived in or visited has something similar as do quite a few newer subdivisions of single family homes. They are not architecturally unique or meant as gathering spots, as a matter of fact lingering in them would potentially get in the way of people that want to quickly grab their mail and packages. They are just a communal equivalent of a mailbox.
I used a photo from a townhome one but the "new" aspect is being located in single family home neighborhoods. In my head that was obvious by the individual driveways comment, but I should have stated that. You agree with my position 100%. Thanks for weighing in.
Oh, they are not new in newer single family subdivisions either in suburban areas.
