Winery

I had another winery approved just a mile from this one, but this one got rejected for this reason:

“The real-world location of the nomination appears to have explicit or inappropriate activity, The real-world location of the nomination appears to be sensitive (e.g. non-historic or culturally significant gravestones or cemeteries), Nomination does not meet acceptance criteria.”

Stinson Vineyards

Local award winning vineyard winery in rural Virgnia. A gathering place for scenic views and live music.

TOTALLY BIZARRE! It’s not a **** club in a graveyard.

Ok well here is the thing. The explicit activity rejection comes from choosing "inappropriate location" rejection. That section of the rejection criteria reads as follows:

    • Location is an adult-oriented store or service, such as a liquor store, **** range, firearm store, or provides **** and/or pornographic content

So it's not hard to see how some reviewers might equate a winery with a liquor store. Regardless of whether or not you agree, the rejection looks less ridiculous when you know it covers things like that.

The graveyard rejection doesn't make as much sense, but it is the reason directly below the inappropriate rejection, so maybe that happened.

And then you have "does not meet criteria" which is subjective and so there you go. Nothing really bizarre here at all.

If it's family friendly, tell the ways. Do they have cornhole or other games that adults AND KIDS play? Events?

If it's adult-only, then it is inappropriate.

Unless this is kids friendly it is an adult oriented location and therefore ineligible

Wineries are fine. They usually have associated restaurants, food, or other social areas, which this seems to have, at least from the live music bit, and you can totally bring kids to that. It's not the same thing as a shop that does nothing but stock booze on a shelf.

I would capitalize on the social or food aspects, or whether there are any tours. Maybe there is some informational sign you could use as a POI too.

Places that serve alcohol were clarified many times before as eligible, and pubs have often been considered great places to be social.

Breweries and wineries are often open to the whole family. Generic businesses that primarily sell liquor would be ineligible, but not these places that are often used for social gatherings and exploring local culture.

@OneOldYeller-PGO I'd probably have used a photo of the building instead of the sign out front. I'd mention if it hosts seasonal music, events, and tours that they often do.
