I’m so sick of seeing that shop for review. Their nominations are all so trashy, all the descriptions talk about how much they want a pokestop, and they never write a decent description of the store itself.
It's obviously the owner of the business. There should be a contact method on the business. Pick up the phone or send her an e-mail. Explain that she really should log in and withdraw the duplicates. If spacing rules only mean that she could have one pokestop then explain that. Bans are temporary and if she continued to submit simliar items not duplicates one after another as they're rejected then you're still in the same situation. Treat people like people and talk to them.
Since you mentioned copyright infringement, it is very obvious you wanted the pokestop pulled from the game. You incapable of dealing with the fact Niantic approved something you've been rejecting for a year. You also lumped the tea room and the lions in the "spam" which are different.
I might have accepted the Tea Room, but the description reads more like an ad for the business as a whole rather than an explanation of what makes the candidate interesting. The Lion reads the same, but also looks like it could be moved from place to place so could be classified as temporary. The accepted candidate, though, is subpar - mention of the specific game in the public description? There's nothing in that description that makes me feel curious about visiting. I would reject that candidate without hesitation.
We have reviewed the report and have taken action on the reported Wayspots and the Wayfinder in accordance with our policies. Thanks for helping us maintain the quality of the Wayspots.
So is the TLDR that someone spammed Wayfarer with the same nomination of their business just for it to get accepted and now there are likely tons of dupes with inappropriate descriptions in the system at this location? I would definitely say that that isn't the behavior we want to see, but we also haven't provided the right avenues for that Business owner to just ask us to add it to the database outside of Wayfarer.
Anyway, not get too caught up in misinterpretations of each other - I think everyone here is actually aligned.
Just so you know, there is only one live Wayspot at Joans Attic and the description is:
Small thrift shop with limited selection in a somewhat run-down building off of Saginaw street. Searching for some junk that looks like it came from your grandma’s attic? You’ll find it here!
So any other nominations still in the system can be given a 1* :)
We'll keep an eye on this location, but I don't suspect this business will be submitting any more spam.
If I'm not mistaken, the gist is that the business owner has been spamming the nomination including text that should be subject to auto-rejection (for game references), and yet one of those nominations made it through with the in-game references intact, and several folks believe it was approved despite this fact by a Niantic employee or contractor. Since you asked.

Maybe you can talk around with other people to develop such idea and maybe provide a way for business to sponsor a pokestop/gym their location, I would suggest to call that "Sponsored Locations for Business" https://nianticlabs.com/en/sponsoredlocations/
The description was just changed. I believe it was changed when @NianticGiffard made their comment :) Previously the description read “Been here for 7 years , Think of what you find in an Attic, have been trying to get our Store as a Pokemon Stop from the beginning of the Game, Thanks” as shown in the in-game screenshot in Sunkast’s original post.
A small antiques and oddities store wouldn't qualify to get a sponsored stop or gym? Out local comic book store has a sponsored gym for some time, and it even crowded out the gym I had put in place there already (old gym and new gym existed simultaneously for a while but were meshed together, visually: eventually my original gym disappeared but remained in Ingress as a POI, and the sponsored EX Raid gym remained in Pokemon Go only of course).
I'd love a way to refer business submitters to a sponsorship program while I review, instead of rejecting outright. I know I saw a note that Niantic wasn't actively accepting candidates at this time, but maybe that can happen as more people get vaxxed and boostered. This program can be good for Niantic and good for players, while not cluttering the Ingress playing field as a result. :)
As of today, the text still appears like that. With the Lightship sync not properly working, I suspect the text will remain incapacitate l inappropriate until somebody 👍 the PoGO photo. Nobody wants to because then it only further validates the candidate by adding it into Ingress.
Really wish Niantic had stayed out of reviewing and let the business owner continue getting invalid emails rather than encouraging bad nominations and showing the community what they think is acceptable.
I remember back in the days when people would appeal a rejected request (removal/movement) , have the appeal rejected by Niantic, and some folks in here would be like "Niantic knows best". That didn't age well 😂
And this is why there needs to be more urgency and a holistic approach between wayfarer and the games to rapidly identify and resolve the sync problems.
There is a growing gulf between lightship and the games. The owner probably got an email saying we have taken action to alter this but sees no actual change.

It's just the expected result for a process that has no education at all for submitters.
I would guess they are mainly *trying* to avoid liabilities (PrP, K 12, emergency services and so on), and not worring much about anything else.
Doing that doesnt waste everyones time and bog down the already suffering system.

@WheelTrekker-ING - That actually isn't a program that would allow any business to do so, but your sarcasm is noted.
@flatmatt-PGO - as far as i can see, the description on the one that made it seems fine, are you seeing otherwise?

Would you mind explaining why that wouldn't allow a business to have their pokestop?
I’m dumbfounded at this. I’m thinking Danbo meant that *not just any* business can do it? I hope?
@NianticDanbocat This is the description that a Niantic employee seems to have internally approved.
