It's like people carefully made the rest of the chart, but this section was put together in less than five minutes because someone remembered it in the last moment.
Is it a document for people nominating or reviewing, some of the wording veers one way and then the other.
What it does need is a link to the full accept and rejection criteria pages on Wayfarer so if people are interested enough to check they can read them. Overall, I suspect it will make no difference to the content of the nominations incoming, a large proportion of which are just "A good place for a pokestop otherwise I have to walk for 5 minutes to get to one".
As for the comments about the graphics, could anyone here make a better one? There must be somone here with some graphic design talent , unlike myself.
I think you should specify the confirmation of the position.
The applicant does not know how the location was confirmed at the time of examination.
I think it's a good idea to clearly indicate that you are confirming your location in Street View or aerial photographs, and encourage applicants to confirm it before applying.
If you can't see it in Street View or aerial photography, it would be even better to give some advice on how to apply.
Except, not everything is eligible, and the info graphic doesn't give well rounded guidance to ineligibility to negate questionable submissions. As others have pointed out, What exactly is an abusive location? An ineligible photo? Without linking to the criteria, how would a new submitter know that the center of a cemetery isn't acceptable until after the fact? The infographic doesn't help there at all.
I feel that submitters need a larger education than an infographic and what each game currently provides. I feel that Niantic needs to update Criteria on Wayfarer on a continual basis, so every reviewer knows whatever the latest ruling is (have notifications or something).
But like you said, Niantic wants to have it both ways, and will wind up with another batch of mediocre submissions, being rejected for random reasons that seemingly makes no sense, leaving all parties frustrated.
Please can Niantic emphasise to people submitting nominations that there is no need to say "safe public access" as this is a judgement call made by reviewers based on the photos, and certainly no need to use the supporting photo to show a picture of a sidewalk / street / pavement, which does not show the nominated POI, as supposed "proof" of this. A lot of submitters don't seem to undstand that the supporting photo is there to help reviewers confirm the location of the Waypoint. Do please stress this.
It is a good question and important to understand, however as this is an official wayfarer forum questions about stop and gym creation are not considered relevant.
If you go to reddit and the Silph road subreddit or the wayfarer one on Reddit, you will find details. It is is all dependent on basic rules about geographic cells.
I miss the word "historic" as one of the effects of good historic portals is that (som) people learn stuff from their own hometown.
Also, photo is a form art. You are SELLING your nomination to the reviewers, and a creative(within reason) photo just might leave that "wow" effect. Night-time, snow, moon up or lit by lanterns - I've seen plenty of good night time photos.
Any accepted Wayspot that has been marked for removal will not be accepting any title, description, photo, or location edits. Any such submissions for such POIs will be automatically rejected.
This is the section of the rejection criteria it refers to. Although some people didn't agree with me in another thread, it's just to indicate that edits will be automatically rejected if the wayspot is removed (obviously). I don't think it should go in this chart at all, it's too confusing as it is.
Would it be beneficial to inform reviewers is reviewers of the way that cells work? Sometimes a marker is placed because that's where it belongs and then kids move it around during the nomination or they move it as an edit and it's getting really annoying having my stops disappear Because an editor or reviewer may not know how stop location placement works.
Hello, I have POIs that have been accepted recently in France. But since yesterday, nothing has been published on Ingress and Pokémon Go (cells without pokéstops nearby). Have you seen this new sync bug?
I think something that needs to be included is to make sure your supporting photo shows the Nomination and it's surroundings, so it actually supports the nomination by showing it actually exists in the place it's claimed to exist in. There's too many photos taken from the Nomination looking out, or exact pictures used for both Nomination AND the Supporting Photo.
I think the infographic idea is great but this infographic misses the main point:
There is criteria and then there is the community interpretation of the criteria. And this as we all know is a wibbly wobbly beast. My recommendation is you make that clear to folk: Be of good courage for your nominations go into battle a preexisting some what nebulous set of conventions on how the criteria should be nominated and reviewed. Even after you spend the time to mind meld with the hive rogue actors will upset the cart and your perfectly nominated gazebo will come back "not visually unique enough"
... thought I would just let folk know .... I have made 490 submissions
of the 84 submissions not accepted .... 35 are POIs now. Thes rest ....5 Fair call, 4 What was even thinking?, 2 Fences at PRP, 1 Playground item with a playground, 35 nominations of 29 POIs that in my opinion definitely are POIs AS THEY FIT THE CRITERIA. 2 nominations of pois that are now gone.
The criteria is not as simple as Explore, Exercise, Be Social.
New and old submitters alike should be told start with Explore, Exercise, Be Social ....give it a go. You need to get a feel for what the wayfarer community standards are that will take time. Also not everyone agrees on those standards so be prepared for even great POI nominations to need a second or third try.
The appeals process is why I have reengaged with wayfarer. Some of my submissions are not easy for me to get to do that resubmit. Like a cafe in Sydney. 1000 km away. or even if I have photos for resubmission but could not determine location on sat view ... like tree cover.
I have 21 nominations Appealled most of them will be online once reviewed.
I am a new wayfarer that just started less than a week ago, so I likely bring a different perspective from many. I pushed hard in Go for 14 months, so I could join. In my short time, I have submitted 12 locations. The first was quickly voted down… the closest one to home, which I will rework later. Of the next group of 11, two were put for immediate voting, and I believe they have a good chance of being accepted.
From these actions, I realized something about what kind of locations are REALLY WANTED, and I believe that should be more clearly stated.
Nationally unique location. If it is an older location that can be seen via StreetView, the chances likely go up significantly. Other stops may eventually be accepted, but if accepted will not be done so as quickly.
Below are a couple generic examples:
Public street art or other object that can be seen nowhere else. The street art could be a unique statue, decorated bench, or mural. An object could be a public clock on the street or an ultra unique building.
Public Memorial or sign to a specific person, where a similar memorial cannot be found in another location anywhere else.
The submissions also have to meet all the documentation requirements, which cannot be skimped on, such as:
Good submission… picture, title, description, location… best if can be seen in StreetView, so better if the place is not new and not a trail marker.
Public, easy and safe access that is unquestionable.
The above is not saying that other location that are more generic will not qualify, and the documentation must specify that. I just believe it should be clearer what kind of spot are REALLY WANTED…. Nationally unique locations that cannot be found in the next town or next state and meet all the submission documentation requirements.
Comments
This makes sense, but they could make that a lot clearer by adding the word "previously" before "live".
Definitely. My thinking that is also the result of reading the full description under that header in the Rejection Criteria.
I do find it worded weird, like how would we know a wayspot is marked for removal until it’s actually removed?
It's like people carefully made the rest of the chart, but this section was put together in less than five minutes because someone remembered it in the last moment.
could share in Spanish please

Infograpgic was reposed to TSR again and people are having at it about wayfarer in the comments

I love how the suggested good pictures include a BENCH. This is additional to double the nominations
That's the supporting photo for the park sign.
okay ,can anyone tell me how a waystop is considered in pokemon go that it will be a gym or pokestop?
It is a good question and important to understand, however as this is an official wayfarer forum questions about stop and gym creation are not considered relevant.

But what if the McDonald's is locally, nay nationally, unique? :-) https://www.foodandwine.com/news/mcdonalds-freeport-maine-mansion
I'm a new wayfarer. What does, "live wayspot marked for removal" mean? I saw that and was confused. Thank you in advance =)
It means Wayspots that meet removal criteria (not same as acceptance criteria).
Live Wayspot marked for removal
Any accepted Wayspot that has been marked for removal will not be accepting any title, description, photo, or location edits. Any such submissions for such POIs will be automatically rejected.

It will not be beneficial.
Because only Pokémon Go players care about cells. Players of other games don't pay attention to it.
And if you are so concerned about cells that you intentionally manipulate your location information, you will be penalized.
No. They shouldn’t do it. You shouldn’t be submitting locations for POI based on cells, but where it actually is.

I did place it where it belongs. I'm suggesting someone ELSE moved it during the review process

If I submitted a pokestop request in Oct 21 and its not yet been looked at do I assume there is a tech issue or does it really take that long?
Some people have their Wayspots In Voting for 18 months - 2 years. So wait more, and try to review and earn an Upgrade if you want.
Working as intended.
