Wayfarer Website First Time Logins

Hi Explorers,
On October 26, 2021, all new Wayfarer Explorers will experience a Wayfarer orientation on their very first log-in. The experience walks Explorers through setting up their profile, understanding Agreements and Upgrades, the Wayfarer Criteria and finally taking the Wayfarer quiz. It will skip walking through the Nominations or Review pages for now, as these will face overhaul next year. Explorers who haven’t logged in for 6+ months (from the date that this is released) but have already passed the Wayfarer quiz will experience the orientation, but not have to retake the quiz.
Check out the original post HERE.

Will this have anything to do with users who never visit Wayfarer and only nominate through the app(s)?
Please just make everyone pass the quiz before they can continue nominating. Everyone.
Exactly this. Some people should pass the quiz before they even get the privilege to nominate. Or cap it excessively to like maximum capacity of 3 instead of giving them 40 all up.
Possibly unpopular opinion as extension, but I would also like people to even pass the quiz before they can start making title/description edits or location edits. Maybe to photos, but... at least a quiz like that too? To teach people that Pogo AR photos, screenshots (of existing Pokestops/gyms) and photos of their hand, child or girlfriend are not valid photo additions.
Most abusers who do the awful edits probably know nothing about Wayfarer and are doing so for laughs, so suggesting edits should be a privilege for being a qualified Wayfinder (i.e. passing the quiz), and making abusive edits will suspend or lose such privileges. Especially once the edit management overhaul comes into play.
Hopefully the change will address this bug where some people who have passed the test can't review:
@NianticTintino @NianticDanbocat EVERYONE should be required to retake the test, even nominators that will never step foot into Wayfarer!!!
I’m curious if this will flow the other way and people who have already failed the reviewing test twice will no longer be able to submit?
Agreed, I wouldn't mind at all retaking a test for continuing education if everyone had to. I'm sure there will always be some amount of people submitting coal to troll reviewers, but if we could reduce even some junk that people don't know not to submit, that would be great.
EVERYONE WHO SUBMITS AND REVIEWS SHOULD NEED TO PASS THIS TEST.
The entire reason this test is needed is because *EXISTING* wayfarers have shown they do not know or respect the rules. This entire problem comes down to *EXISTING* Wayfarers.
Yeah. This. Before anyone comes here and say "but I have 10k reviews and hundreds approved nominations", yes, you should take the test as well. It's a small price to pay for the greater good.
I have done almost 40k reviews and have "discovered" around 500 Portals. I would actually enjoy taking a submitter test because almost every time I review or submit I discover new things and get a new take on eligibility.
This is a nice improvement for the website, and hopefully helps new reviewers. Hopefully this also helps nominatiors who check the site for the first time in a while (which is why I assume it lines up with the release date of the expanded contribution limit on PoGo) but I do wish that this increased limit came with at least some way for all nominatiors to be forced to look at criteria.
I'm closing in on 100k reviews and have over 700 approved waypoints. I will happily take any test if it means all must do the same. 10 minutes spent reviewing should convince anyone of the need for this.
Agreed. I'd be happy to retake the test too and I've been doing OPR/Wayfarer since 2018. There are a ton of reviewers from before the 3.1 criteria refresh and even earlier changes made who have just not kept up. Making everyone take a refresher would be a very much welcome change.
EVERYONE please. EVERYONE!
I agree everyone should retake the test, only if Niantic rework their quiz bank. It's just pointless to keep the existing quiz if many people spoiled the answers across the internet.
Also, any chances for those already failed the test twice to experience the orientarion and retake the test once more?
@willowitaly-ING 😂😂😂 that meme is so good. But also, technically submitters are Wayfarer Explorers too, they just don't realize it because we never hooked up the flow properly from game to the Wayfarer website. Also I think those headbands need to make a comeback.
@Roli112-PGO - yes everyone should take the test. we shouldn't let you contribute until you've passed the test. we are working on updating that flow at least from PGO by the end of this year. everything is going through engineering right now. We'll post about that about a week before we ship it.
Thanks for clearing that up, looking forward to it. Is there any planned changes for the twice and locked out forever system? Some seem to think that's too harsh if they failed when they were young and immature for example.
@Roli112-PGO - yea that's changing too - more soon! It's 1am where i'm at and i'm pretty tired :)
Thanks for the info! Same time zone here, had too much coffee today 😅
Part of the quiz should be about trail markers! At least one third would already fail there...
Please take care of yourself! We appreciate the feedback but dang, 1am…
I would also be fine with everyone retaking the test, though I would want assurance that it wouldn't reset our Wayfarer rating to Fair if we're already in Good or Great standing.
Only time @NianticDanbocat even logs on, so gotta be on my toes! Lol JK, like i said too much coffee.
Can we pretty please apply this to every account? The 6-month cutoff won't apply to a lot of the coal submissions that have been coming in for years.
¿Explicarán también como funciona el sistema de celdas de los juegos? Muchas personas que suben propuestas no tienen ni idea de lo que es y de como funciona este sistema.
Eso es por diseño.
As long as there is no more rewarding way for new players to enter the wayfarer to review nominations. The queue will continue to grow. A reflection of this are the Wayfarer Challenge events.
In Brazil we got four improvements for example, but even with the improvements, the orders don't leave the queue. Because there aren't enough people to assess demand.
I guarantee it. it's not a wayfarer notification trying to explain how the revision works that's going to change things.
As long as there are no exclusive rewards in the games and a more practical way to get upgrades and have a form of "questioning" when a point is refused the wayfarer will still have huge queues.
In addition to the possible need to leave the same wayspots in all niantic games.
Seriously, HOW frustrating it is for ALL players to have that spot you want to put in the game and not show up. This would also reduce or even eradicate those requests to move to another "Cell".
