Just shows the absolute incompetence of this company by failing to realize everyone was happy with the changes, and then decide to revert them by "rearranging the game board".
More gyms / stops / POIs in general, more revenue for your pockets + making the community as happy as they haven't been in MONTHS.
Why don't you fix the bugs that affect the community like the broken sync with Pokemon Go? It has been an issue for months, but you fix this bug that benefits players in record time.
Yes thanks I helped normalize that theory, I'm well aware.
It's still a bug. It still continues today, months after being reported. Your "fix" is not a fix but a workaround and only works when the POI is in PoGO.
Far be it from me to support Niantic, but this is actually the right thing to do in this instance. The rules (as we knew them, not as ever explained by Niantic) only allowed 3 gyms per L14 cell. When this bug happened, my area got a 4th gym in what should be a "full" L14 cell. I believe this rebalancing will demote that 4th gym so that the cell goes back to operating under normal rule. We had a few other stops and gyms appear that should not be possible according to the "normal" rules. What should happen is that all those outliers GO away (though stay in Ingress).
The main thing is that this little s-crew up gave us a preview of what stop will flip to a gym next when the right number of POI is reached in a L14 cell (assuming it's not full already). If you like that one, do nothing. If you don't like that one, go out there and photo upvote a better gym candidate.
Want to add some clarity to some of the questions being asked. Please see below:
Will Pokémon in gyms that may be taken down return to me?
Yes, all current Pokémon in gyms that will be demoted or disabled will return to you as soon as the resolution effects mentioned above goes into play.
What is meant by "rebalancing the Wayspot ratio in each area"
This means that we will make sure our inclusion rules are honored in Pokémon GO and Ingress. In cases where the new Wayspots break the rules, they will be acted on. No new considerations were applied.
Please know (as edited in original post), we will do our best to make sure to preserve as many as we can. Not all new Wayposts break these rules. In cases where the new Wayspots did not break the rules, they will be kept in game.
Niantic still lets lots of abused clusters ingame, even after reports.
Best example is the spoofer cluster at Zaragoza. They removed half of the stops, but there are still way more stops than it would be normally possible.
In PoGo spoofers are a great money source. I camt find another explanation for this diametral measures of Nia ….
People will lose interest because they fixed an issue that was literally preventing the creation of more gyms and stops - removing a few faulty ones to be able to keep expanding the network in the future is wrong?
Are you going to remove the millions of Ingress portals that break the distance rules then and have done for years or does that not matter?? I’ve seen many portals on top of each other yet some time ago Pokestops moved to the correct location were removed or gyms downgraded. Yet all remain in Ingress. How it that fair ??
Have you considered that because of this "bug" people are actually submitting stuff in the correct location rather than trying to fudge a location to get around the cell restrictions?
You would probably have a more accurate and interesting database if you allowed this "bug" to continue. Not only that but people are willing to submit valid points of interest which previously wouldn't have appeared in your games due to the previous proximity rules. Doesn't Niantic want more real and interesting points of interest to be submitted or are you happy with people to go back to submitting any old postbox and dog muck bin?
the only four gym cell i created had a forced sponsored gym. i've seen more in my local big city and assume that's what causes the majority of them. we had a three gym cell with a starbucks, and upon addition of the 20th poi, the fourth gym appeared as if the sponsored stop wasn't there.
Niantic with this decision is not only going to load stops and gyms in the pokemon, but these past days have been disappearing portals that were valid and that when leaving the pokemon they have disappeared.
We'll see if niantic sees this new bug and restores the mistakenly deleted portals in Ingress.
If the gyms have to go away, is there any way to remove their existence from my gym list? If I can't get them gold I don't need them taking up the already 1000 limited space I have.
I‘m lvl 50 in PoGo with 500k catches and roughly 1k gold gyms. Of course this is basic knowledge, but Nia refuses to talk about this topic. This is the 1st time, that a Nia employee uses words like „inclusion rules“ as part of an argumentation/explanation 😂
We know that. But Niantic has never acknowledged them, so the point of @WheelTrekker-ING's question was just to try and make them say the actual rules that we have to play by.
We have just a few month after #HearUsNiantic, a giant shitstorm, that rose up, because Niantic wanted to enforce their rules against the will of a huge player base without any dialogue with the community. The players weren't heard.
What do we have, now?
"We know, that some of you were excited because of these new PokeStops and Gyms." and "Some of these PokéStops and Gyms are going to be removed or updated as necessary to preserve the integrity of the gameboard.".
The company produces the same issues again and again. How can they not see this? How?!

Tintino plays Ingress at least;
Niantic just doesn’t care about their player base, I’m not surprised..

How dense can you guys be ahahahah
Tumbing the missing ones in Pogo brings them into ingress, worked every time I used it.

Please Niantic don’t do this don’t remove Gyms and stops… it’s not much, give us this little present :(

Really now? A bug happened, messing with the system and disrupting sync for weeks. They sort it out and remove faulty additions.
They can't leave the "faulty" ones until you "finish" because there are always someone not finished with a gym.
Stop throwing a literal temper tantrum.
Here an example about the feedback about this news from a German PGO news channel
Where can I (and others) see these "Wayspot inclusion rules"? It would be a nice reference to show when helping new nominators.

They can't leave them because their own algorithm for how the L17/L14 works won't allow it.

Stop killing your own game please I like pokemon go 😔 people will lose interest like this

This is also being acted on before the "working as intended" upgrades.
Also can't wait to see this break other Waypoints that existed prior to this bug.
Start to communicate these rules…..
officially no PGO player knows them, because Nia diesnt talk about this. So how cam this become an argument now?

Asking the real questions here so many of mine have been accepted and not synced waiting on 3 or 4 gyms in pogo. 🤬🤬🤬
He is talking about the S2 cell system, ie that only one thing per L17 in Pokemon. It's been the same "rule" for new stops/gyms since the beginning.
the only four gym cell i created had a forced sponsored gym. i've seen more in my local big city and assume that's what causes the majority of them. we had a three gym cell with a starbucks, and upon addition of the 20th poi, the fourth gym appeared as if the sponsored stop wasn't there.
Watch them remove new and old POI alike.
🤡

Dude. That was a rhetorical question….
