Ah. If you get a Niantic review - which is both unlikely and completely out of your control - it might get approved. If you submit to the community it’s not likely.
Try looking around for statues, art, fountains, special signage, that kind of thing. It could be near enough to the store to serve the purpose without submitting the store itself.
They don't inherently meet the eligibility criteria. What about the specific grocery store that you think meets one of the three eligibility criteria and is more than just a generic business?
A supermarket would not meet criteria. Your perceived need for more Pokestops close to you does not elevate generic businesses that do not meet criteria into something eligible.
Look for art such as murals and sculptures not on private property or K-12 school grounds, hiking trails, parks, etc..
@remspoortje2-PGO In my area at least, I've seen several clock-towers built atop/into supermarkets accepted as Wayspots. Another supermarket has a time capsule buried underneath it, so the plaque for the time capsule is a Wayspot. It's important to mention that in each case it's not the supermarket itself that's meant to be "point of interest". If the supermarket has nothing noteworthy about it (such as a clock-tower or time capsule) then no, it's not Wayspot worthy.
And yes, silly Niantic staff acepting an Aldi supermarket which they absolutelty should not have done. 🙄

you mean like a restaurant?
Same applies to a restaurant. What about it that makes it more than just a generic business?

Not unless you had a comically large supermarket like the Costco in “Idiocracy”. And even then, probably no.
