Memorial Bench

Hello,
I submitted this memorial bench and after around two months got it rejected.
I am not 100% sure if this is a good entry, but as it is not a generic one in a thousand bench with an added memorial feature (Plaque on the bench itself and a showcase in the back) and the fact that it is situated on a hiking trail I thought maybe it is ok?
it was rejected due to natural feature and not existing at that point.
problem in Germany is that there is almost nowhere street view and the Topf view is bad as it is covered by trees..
what do you think, try again with a better additional photo with a better angle perhaps? And more description about why it is not a generic bench?
or don’t bother trying again?
thanks in advance for your help

I would not. Memorial benches are difficult to get through, even if the person it is memorializing was a big shot in your community. A bench is a bench.
Did they change the qualifications of Memorial Benches? When Niantic Casey was on the forums he stated:
"How to handle nominations with memorial benches or plaques: Memorial benches and plaques should be treated similarly to gravestones in that they're eligible only if dedicated to a noteworthy member of a community or historical figure. The burden of proof for demonstrating that the bench is noteworthy falls to the nominator and is a great use case for the supporting information field."
I cringe every time I come across a memorial bench submit because most of the time the submitter does not say how the person is a noteworthy member of a community or historical figure.
It took me 2 times looking through the photo to even notice the small plaque on the end of the picnic table. You would think that the plaque would be a lot more noticable if this realy is a memorial to a community leader rather than just an acknowlegment of donated funds or a dedication to a family member who may not be significnt to the broader community. If you feel the memorial part of the bench/table is significant enough, try making either the main photo or the support photo one that focuses on the plaque.
This. Also, is that some kind of a notice board behind the bench there? @Huschdegudzl-PGO will have better luck with the notice board. Though yes, if the bench is for somebody locally noteworthy, try again with different photographs as said.
Yes, good call on the board.
I looked at the main photo a dozen times and didn't know that was being submitted. Not a bench, and I didn't see the plaque until your comment.
This was my very first thought.
@Huschdegudzl-PGO, what is the purpose of the board behind the table? That might be a better nomination if it is used to facilitate exploration of the area or used to connect people with each other.
Hi,
the notice board contains infos about Karl Stäbler, the person who this bench is dedicated to. Karl Stäbler was Head of Town for almost 30 years in Wagshurst and therefor is very well known around town.
maybe I‘ll try again with the notice board in focus.
thanks all!
Personally, I think this should be accepted on a trail because it's a spot for hikers/bikers to stop and socialize and talk as well as encourage people on trail to explore father down the trail the same way a trail mile marker sign is acceptable to Niantic.
I'd encourage you in any resubmission, to not only play up the local community, but mention the trail it's on and that it encourages exercise down the trail.
This IMO is far better a POI than many of the eligible trail markers under the same exact logic that a trail marker is eligible.
