Submitted a fitness corner nomination for review 5 days ago, used my upgrade on it. But I received an email this morning saying my nomination got rejected due to "The nomination does not appear to be historically or culturally significant"
I have submitted more than 4 fitness stations around my neighbour and all of them got approved, I thought fitness corners are one of the easiest things to get approved here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Here is the street view link: https://goo.gl/maps/SQL67oBBFwSx7TcD6

The question is, do you guys think this is a valid reason for it to get rejected?

No. It is a valid nomination. Sadly some reviewers do not know, that 1* in any categorie means a rejection.
Just a reminder that, some Indonesian and Malaysian reviewers are also reviewing nominations from Singapore.
"Not culturally significant" typically occurs when there is something nearby that a nomination can be considered a duplicate of, likely from the nominating being split votes between accept and duplicate with no actual rejections.
The fitness station is directly next to the playground and your supporting photo shows the playground and fitness exercise in the same area. While I would consider these to be distinct equipment and both eligible, I can see how some reviewers would consider them to be duplicates.
Since playgrounds are typically child/youth oriented, I would change the description to something more like "Outdoor adult fitness equipment at..." to help differentiate the fitness area from the playground. You could also address in the supporting... "A separate fitness attraction from the nearby playground, this equipment encourages outdoor exercise and an active and healthy lifestyle. Visible on Street view in a safely accessible area."
I would consider using "Fitness Station" in your title rather than the description. It should not matter really, but if it is the title and "Outdoor Recreation:Fitness Station" is there in the "What is it?" section at the bottom when people review that may nudge a few people to accept that may have otherwise given it 3 or 2 stars.
For the description mention that it was installed by the town council to promote exercise and healthy living.
To be honest, I think anyone who gave < 3 stars for this nomination should not be a reviewer at all. How do these people even pass their reviewers' test smh
Please -100 points from their wayfarer rating 😏 @NianticGiffard @NianticTintino
And how did you know they use rating points system? All we know is the rating tiers are only Poor, Fair, Good, and Great.
haha i was joking, but i believe there should be a backend "point system" that reflects the rating tiers. A "good review" or a "bad review" would gain/lose points which would affect the rating.
Maybe another station along this fitness trail is already a wayspot. So reviewers said this one doesn't look very different from the existing one. Also, Niantic's guidance says only one waypoint for a course (unless they're far apart).
The sign at the nomination gives the name of "fitness corner" so but using the title of "fitness station", this is technically incorrect. Either will work for sure, but "fitness corner" is more correct based on the signage provided. For a nomination like this, I actually usually leave the description blank and it gets through no problem. @ChancelsHere-PGO was unusually unlucky with the reviewer pool given.
