Incorrectly seeing Cupid's Span on my featured wayspots page

From what I've read, I understand this (along with a Japanese wayspot whose name I'm unable to copy and paste) shows up when Wayfarer doesn't have your review location set correctly. However, both my home and bonus locations are set correctly (and have been since the Russia Wayfarer Challenge), and I've been playing both Pokémon Go and Ingress in my hometown very regularly (I login to Pokémon Go every day and play, whereas Ingress I login to a bit less often but still at least once a week) and I can't remember the last time I travelled more than a few miles from here whilst playing. Previously my Featured Wayspots page was showing locations within my general review area, but now all of a sudden I'm getting Cupid's Span. Any ideas why this is? Is anyone else suddenly experiencing this?

I'm experiencing it, and multiple people reported it in the Wayfarer Discussion Discord.
Despite having the Cupid's Span (which typically indicates not have a "current local play area") I appear to be receiving local area reviews.
Glad to know I'm not alone. And yes, I'm still getting UK reviews (local for me), so that seems to be working alright for the moment.

By the way, the "featured" page has never been known to reflect your home or bonus areas, but probably good to include it in this report. Thanks for making the thread.
Also seeing this. I wondered, we have the “What is it?” for GO and nomination increase for Ingress both coming “mid-December” which is only a few weeks away so maybe some prep work in the background for that.
Or perhaps the Niantic reviewers are back from their Thanksgiving time off and are now being assigned cases to review.

Well, if it's a bug, I'll have to fix it, but I think it's a good idea.
I think it would be good for Wayfarer if nominators and reviewers could see more good Wayspots from all over the world with a rating of 4.5 or higher, rather than showcasing new Wayspots that are not very good.
I just logged to wayfarer after some time and I also see cupid's span and one japanese wayspot in showcase.
I have my home location set corretly, I didn't choose my bonus location so far, and I don't plan to do it for now, but I still get nominations to review from my local area.
Looks like it's only showcase issue, like for everyone from this thread, but I hope it will be fixed.

And I recall this issue is not a part of recently announced update.

Please keep Cupid's Span in the showcase permanently. In the UK, frequently, the algorithmic showcase is just filled with crappy generic street furniture which fulfils no criteria. One time in the London cell, the showcase entirely consisted of stinkpipes, which are just sewer exhausts.
Normally, Cupid's span meant (before the infamous 4-day cooldown error was fixed) that you couldn't review for such days, the system would not send anything. It is causing a bit of PTSD... here's one community member now.
I also have an intense phobia of spiders, so that second featured wayspot triggers me too, so I pray I never click through.
It's not a bug, it's a feature. Niantic avoid bad featured wayspots.
I'm getting very bored with Cupid's Span and the Roppongi Spider. I've seen the Spider with my own eyes and it's a lot more fun in person. I'd love to see a few new local waypoints instead!

Finally seeing local showcases here again after a long time. For once, 2/3 of the showcased wayspots are actually good.
Are you seeing the ones I'm seeing too? Or are they actually local, like ACT local?
I currently see a gazebo, a war memorial and a light rail station, they're not local-local but far more local than Cupid's Span.
Yes I have 2 local sites now one about 10 miles away the other probably 25/30 miles
Mine is back up too but only showing one Wayspot. Perhaps that’s all that’s nearby that’s of quality.
Well we're in the UK, so you can probably assume that if there were meant to be two or three, the others would be postboxes 🤣
