Haha, this fun topic again! But no, it's not quiiite that simple...
Personally I've always been pro trailmarkers, but this is the first time I started to question a type of Trail markers...We have ALLOT of trailmarkers where we live and we had smaller (metal plate) ones pop up on my reviews... But now I get trailmarkers that are identical as the smaller ones but they are stickers....
I have never seen them where I live but they look perfectly legit trailmarkers and the few I come across are even on Streetview so it's not a brand new ones that's been placed there... Have a look:
But still I have a small doubt what to **** of them. I don't want to skip these nominations either forever. oppinions?

That specific one looks fishy...like something temporary that someone just stuck on a pole in their front yard to try to get a couch portal. I would definitely verify the trail exists in that area before voting to approve that one, I would probably 3* if I could not do that.
My exact feeling, and if it was that easy to get an approval it isn't the hardest to get a hold of a sticker copier... I've seen plenty of home made nature signs so for a trend like this to start as well... That is if it hasn't already started. Those I have seen the most of are identical to these but made of metal and bolted on..
A laminated sign stuck to a lampost = temporary.
Even if it is legitimate, if the pole is in the yard of a single family home, it would not be eligible.
If that pole is a street light, it is not on prp. Governments can't just place objects on prp. Being allowed or even required to maintain the area around the pole does not make it your property.
At least they won't approve candidates like the one in the picture.
Yeah it's a lamp on public property; so it's really only the matter of the trailmarker itself, if it's a fully valid candidate.
I'm a no on this example. Its a sticker on a street lamp.
Niantic clearly stated that "stickers on street lamps" trail markers are acceptable:

From RobWaudby's examples made on 11th September, "Acceptable" and "not sure on these" are correct to be acceptable.
The sticker on street lamp is under "Not sure the these" in the first link.
Oh perfect! that settles that! Thank you :)
Your post got me researching a bit. I was familiar with the thread you referenced but had not reviewed it in quite some time. However even at first glance I was still of the opinion that the OP's example did not rise to the "standard" from the "Not sure on these" example from the quoted thread. I was still a no.

My research continued. The sign is not in my native language so I have no context to go off of other than the given picture. After a brief google I came across this site. https://www.stavanger.kommune.no/en/culture-and-leisure/recreational-activities/52-everyday-trips-find-tours-in-stavanger/storhaugturen/ , which appears to indicate that the sticker from the OP is direction marker for the Storhaug walk. an official walking loop in the City of Stavenger Norway. Having that additional context I would 100% be in favor of this wayspot (however poorly placed it was originally by a city worker).
This highlights the importance of Title and Description for context. If you don't include this reviewers will add their own. For example in Boston MA, the subway system is called the T. That's was my frame of reference here. I would not expect a random subway direction sign to be accepted.
Long story short.... based off the photo with no context, I'd still be a no. With an Accurate title and Description I am a yes.
