i have come across many fake nominations in a region close to mine and actually my rating dropped after voting them down i have voted down 19 of these so far and everytime i report it using the report system i get told they be removed and sometimes they do and then 2 weeks later they are back 😫.
If you take a good look at the photo they made you can see it is a piece of paper, this is done by in total 8 pokemon go accounts that i have seen on the submission names so far these are only the ones i take a screenshot of rest i have none.
i'm beginning to give up again last year i stopped reviewing because of a ***

Just think of the stop as the box itself relax.
What makes those boxes eligible by themselves?
Well technically a utility box is on the list for eligible nominations. But it’s a game don’t forget that, if these get taken out it will discourage players who are used to spinning these stops in their neighborhood.
You mean the "What Is It" list? That's not a list of eligible nominations, just a list of identifiers. There is clearly ineligible stuff on that list, such as schools.
Seeing clearly ineligible wayspots get nominated and accepted discourages hard working reviewers and nominators. The players behind those paper cutouts should look for eligible POIs in their neighborhoods instead of making temporary or fake wayspots. That's the whole point of Wayfarer.
Although I agree fake nominations are annoying I just don’t see these as fake these items are permanent utility boxes that have been upgraded to look better, I’ve seen empty boxes as stops before it’s not the end of world if these stay. I would understand if it was a temporary feature like a Christmas decorations but utility boxes are there to last.
"permanent utility boxes" - lots of things on the street are permanent. Lamp posts are permanent. Waste bins are permanent. Does that make them good wayspots?
"have been upgraded to look better" - those paper decorations would wash away in the first rain. There's a reason why "temporary or seasonal display" is a rejection reason.
"empty boxes as stops" - just because something somehow got accepted, doesn't make it eligible. A lot of ineligible stuff already exists as wayspots, whether due to outdated criteria or due to abuse. You don't nominate based on what's already on the map. That's Wayfarer 101.
I’m condoning nominating these I’m just saying I don’t believe they should be taken down now that they are up. You’re taking this way to seriously agree to disagree.
You may believe that, that's your choice. EenFez's appeal is still correct, though.
I would say that coming to the Wayfarer Community Forums and telling users that they're taking Wayfarer too seriously is a bold choice. But hey, you do you.
@NianticGiffard , @NianticTintino
The one with the black cat used to pop up on a regular base, each time I flagged it as abuse, which it is.
Then these wayspots make it live one way or another, get removed and yet again they pop up over and over again.
This is a clear case of abusive submissions, hope you can handle these cases for good this time
They just need to make a blanket ban for players that do this and salt the earth so in these areas so no more BS can pop up.
Sorry for derailing the conversation a tad, you can see POGO submission names? While reviewing?
Not when reviewing, no, but when they are live. If submitted by a Pokémon Go player, it’ll show the trainer name in Pokémon Go, if it is eligible to show up in Pokémon Go via the level 17 S2 cells, and in Ingress if the submitter used Ingress to do same.
This is supposed to be a feature players can turn on and off though if I remember correctly? I do recall people mentioning the option to turn it off was not working though.
It works. Every garbage portal I come across has the name protected in Pokemon Go
Wow our area must be polar opposites. Every garbage Portal I come across has an Agent name tied to it.
yes when looking at the pokestop photo you can see the submitter name i think, i got from the suport it was removed or they said taken action i think this one got removed cause i spinned it 2 days ago and now one with a white circle took its place 🙄 also the time posted chanced from 6days to 1 month ago so this is a older one can niantic not just take a closer look to these 2 streets where they keep popping up.
the reason i post it here is cause i feel like it is a waste of time to keep reporting them always the 2 same names wich i have said to the wayfarer support like 3 times now i will not post them on here but seems like niantic can just fix the problem by removing there wayfarer rights.
in my opinion make submissions only posible after lvl45 or hell even 50 cause 38 is to low you can reach that using friendship in less then 3 months.
Wow how can these even pass review, these are so clearly temporary makes you wonder what the reviewers were doing?
Niantic should be looking at not only the accounts that submitted but which wayfarers approved. Like OP said it drags down the scores of good reviewers. Is it ignorance and they need better info/support or is it the same person with multiple accounts pushing through bad submissions?
Yes it cannot happen without sufficient reviewers saying this is okay.
It also suggests that any "Waypoint reviewer onboarding test" really should cove obvious fake nominations like these to make sure people really are looking at Nominations properly. As has been noted, one of my concerns is that there will be a surge in "don't spoil our game / i can't be bothered to walk / Every nomination should be a stop" type reviewers whose combined mass will swapm the reviews of those correcly following criteria.
Unless of course, a reviewers review "weighting" takes into account the number of completed and ok reviews, but htats something Niantic are never going to tell us about.
Niantic has definitely told us that our agreements greatly affect the weighting of our votes.
Other things also affect it. They won't say what, but I'd bet it's how fast you are, and how/if you interact with things on the nomination page.
Thanks for reporting them to us! We have reviewed the reported Wayspots and have taken action on the Wayspots and the Wayfinders in accordance with our policies. Thanks for helping us maintain the quality of the Wayspots.
