Wayfarer website request - Remove the Harry Potter: Wizards Unite banner image from rotation

It’s been a few months now since Niantic/WB/Portkey Games closed down Harry Potter: Wizards Unite but it still comes up now and then when going to log in to Wayfarer. Perhaps remove it from the banners, or put a Pikmin Bloom/Transformers: Heavy Metal image in it’s place?
Any new Wayfarer might wonder what those structures poking out from the city are meant to represent.

Niantic is not so good hiding every evidence that HPWU ever existed. For example there are still some websites who work -->

I bet there are a lot more webistes with HPWU stuff who still are still existing.
@PkmnTrainerJ-ING Yes right now there are 7 Ingress banners and 3 Pokémon banners and 1 HarryPotter but no Pikmin or Transformers. Maybe a Wayfarer banner would be also nice.

I wanna see a banner of someone reviewing on Wayfarer. Like, actually at a computer, or sitting like a model reviewing on their phone (I can never review on my phone).
I still miss it. :(

I'll bet they want it there. When selling the Lightship database, I'm sure they use HPWU as an example of what has been done with it. There's no shame in sunsetting a product.
Hi @NianticGiffard the HPWU image/banner is appearing again for me. It’s been almost six months now since it closed down, can you not swap the image for something else. Maybe

It's a load bearing banner image, if they remove it the whole system collapses.

It's not in their priority, and this is purely a cosmetic thing. Zero chance of being actioned, unfortunately even after half a year of Wizzie McGuire sunsetting.

I kept it for a little while, much like with Catan & Transformers, and I suspect I’ll forget to delete Witcher when it gets to June too.
At least I have space clear now for NBA/Peridot/Marvel for the year that they will be active.
Hey Giffard, or Tintino or @NianticOren or whoever, this cropped up again today. A year after the closure of the game. Maybe you can replace it with a NBA image?
The NBA wayspot will probably be locked as of September 2022, or as of November 2022 at the earliest, so it will not be necessary.
Same with pikmin.
For now, just remove Harry Potter.
But they don't seem to have any room left to change them.
I would like to stop Wayfarer nominations once and for all and give them time to work on them if they have no extra energy left in them.
Well, they won't have the extra energy left to make those decisions either.
I’m surprised there’s not complaints that this isn’t a HPWU community. Really looking forward to one for Pokémon Go in the future. 🤞 Some people will never understand how much some people have actually done for their communities for real. 🤣 The only reason that image should be up is for marketing purposes or just for old times sake
Why would you want to stop wayfarer?????? Yes there's some amount of dross coming through, but I've found some incredible things in the last few months to submit because there's been renovations, nature reserves, new parks etc being made all around me. Even things like new murals, finding hidden gems of unique sporting classes, these are things epipem want to know about
The official Campfire is still around for the game. Maybe I should raise it there?

Do you think the current Wayfarer team can stop this large amount of muddy water and make it drinkable again?
I think that the situation up until the first half of last year when Giffard and his team were there, they would have been able to bring it back while keeping the Wayfarer review running.
However, not looking at the current situation with the Wayfarer team, I don't think the Wayfarer team has the strength to do that anymore.
And Significantly since this fall, the mud water has increased.
Therefore, if the muddy waters continue to flow in, Wayfarer will break up sooner or later at some point.
Whether that is the end of Wayfarer, the game, or Niantic itself, I don't know.
Niantic itself probably won't go away because Niantic now has another weapon in its arsenal, the AR platform.
However, the weapon of choice, the one-of-a-kind wayspot database, is in the process of being destroyed by us, Wayfinder, and is losing its credibility.
Niantic's use of the wayspot database will then be meaningless.
In that case, Wayfarer will ultimately lose its significance.
The current Niantic game will be reborn as a completely different game at that time.
In a way, the current NBA seems to be testing that.
I could have made it like Harry Potter, but they don't trust our data completely, because they have adopted many 4sq databases.

Hey Niantic I love to see you commemorate your own product. You diligently offered a special experience to all wizard lovers. I am glad to see you keep that beautiful banner to let everyone know Wizard Unite did existed in the world. Keeping that may be meaningful to some small community, like keeping the ingress portal in Antarctica. Moreover, unlike allowing nonexistent wayspot on the game board, keep a banner at log-in screen won’t hurt any of the wayfarer value.
HPWU is still part of Niantic's resume', their portfolio. An interested developer might see that, and ask about it, and a lively discussion ensues. Maybe they can use some of the code from HPWU to more easily create something new.
Let's hope not for the sake of those new users.
