Unfortunately, once a "bad" POI is in the game, it's almost impossible to be removed. It must be completely fake to be sure to be removed. The other removal criteria, such as PRP and pedestrian access, are sometimes ignored by Niantic. Things like gas station signs, that are "bad" but not "illegal", they won't remove at all if they manage to get in. If Niantic would expand their removal criteria for removing things, then maybe point 2.2 wouldn't cause abuse. 1) and 2.1) sound great, though.
Doesn't look like they are, it looks like it's skipping some regions entirely. Nobody in my local discord has had one looked at yet and we submitted day 1.
According to the appeal emails, your appeal "will be reviewed in the order it was received." According to the reports from the community, appeals submitted yesterday have already been reviewed and resolved. These two statements appear to be contradictory.
My one and only appeal from December 14 still hasn't been reviewed, and - again, according to the community reports - there are those submitted on day one that haven't been reviewed either.
I would also add that I thought I was being a responsible member of the community and was doing my part by not adding to the backlog and submitting only one appeal when they were first available. However at this point it almost feels as if I'm being punished for that decision.
Niantic folks - are there any better ways of handling this process?
Yes I did the same submitting 2 over the previous open period. I was happy to wait my turn in a queue, but it has turned very sour.
I have to put up with local submissions taking over 2 years to resolve, so the ability to appeal is really important as I can’t just resubmit and get a quick result.
Effectively if I want to help them along I need to review and get upgrades.
So finding out that in less than 24 hours others have appealed and got a result is really taking the Michael.
My first appeal from within hours of appeals opening in December also went into Niantic voting overnight. Somebody else local had the same thing happen. Hopefully they are at least attempting to fix the non-FIFO problem.
@TheQutestOfBorg-PGO According to the appeal emails, your appeal "will be reviewed in the order it was received."
Aw, you believed something NIantic said.
I know how you feel, because I believed this one from the Nov 2020 AMA:
With the updated criteria, there was a promise to rereview previously rejected nominations that may meet the updated requirements. How will that work?
While this is a big effort, we are already working on reviewing past rejections starting with the Generic Business category. Keep an eye on the forum for updates on other efforts related to this initiative.
Remember when they said they'd tell people why their appeal was rejected?
They've gone back on many other promises. Take anything they say with a grain of salt.
30 days is a long time, is it not possible to shorten it a little? The community in my region gives very bad reviews, rejecting just about everything, and I need to appeal on just about everything. The appeal is what has "saved me" lately.
As shown multiple times, Niantic isn't always aware when things aren't working. I think it's very fair to bring up something like this to make sure it isn't a bug, like allowing us daily appeals.
I’ve had three Appeals come back as Accepts today. However, a question. They were all nominated using Ingress, meaning if they’d been accepted originally I would have got 1,000 AP and a Portal Key. The Appeal Acceptance emails don’t mention this, where the regular Accept emails do (if Ingress is used). Do we still get these?
No aparecerá en ningún juego de niantic? Porque al parecer no fue reflejado en ningún juego una apelación aceptada en mi lugar donde vivo.. Que se podría hacer en ese caso
Yes, it’s possible for it not to appear in any (currently released) Niantic game. These are generally referred to as “Lightship-only”. Your nomination exists in Niantic’s database, so even if you re-nominate it, it will be marked as a duplicate.
If you go back to the same area and open the nomination map on Pokémon GO, you’ll see some orange Wayfarer pins, that will say “Used in other Niantic games”. This includes future ones.
While apartment and neighborhood signs typically aren’t eligible, the fountain, I think, should have pushed this into acceptability.
Maybe resubmit and try to get more of the water in the image? I don’t have a 100% awesome suggestion of how to do that - it’ll take some experimentation - but the current image is dominated by the sign and I think trying to visually emphasize the waterfall might be a difference-maker.

The appeal I submitted the first day is now showing in Niantic Voting so I am hopeful they will be going FIFO from now on.

@NianticDanbocat @NianticTintino
In the interest of fairness can you shed light on this and if it is a bug shut things down again quickly and fix it.
Just checked, so is mine
The one I submitted the first day of appeals (in December) is now in voting.
But so is the one I submitted 12 hours ago.
So I am not sure how the first-in-first-out method (as implied by the email) is supposed to work…
Would be nice if the email included the text submitted to explain why the appealed contribution should be accepted but this is a good step forward.

looks like i don't receive mail after appeals are treated.
i just noticed i have less nomination in the in voting (niantic) stats

ONE of the appeals I filed in December has been processed (and, of course, approved), but the other ones haven't been processed yet.

They should, but you'll still need to wait for the daily Ingress sync which is around 3:15PM PDT (i think this is 10:15pm in BST?)
That’s good to know, thanks. Yeah, anywhere from 10pm - 10:30pm for me 🇬🇧
Any chance it can be added to the Accept emails for Appeals @NianticTintino-ING ?
Had this Appeal accepted. However I did not get an email. It was submitted back when Wayfarer was OPR.
Is there a known issue that pre-Wayfarer nominations don’t get an email?
Just keeping track.
my first appeal from the original window went Niantic voting status nearly 3 weeks ago.
my second appeal from that window has now joined it as in voting.
It is frustrating that the process is random and not first in first out and based on some other system- still better than resubmitting.
I hope those that have yet to get any movement on their appeals get some movement soon.
I don't know about "known issue" per se, but several other folks have reported issues with not receiving an email from Redacted approvals.
On a side note, did your Seer Badge change?
I don’t keep track of my Seer badge unfortunately.
Hola, ¿Que tiempo se demora en reflejar en los juegos las apelaciones aceptadas?
As per the email they will show within 48 hours. If they don’t show on Ingress, it’ll be within 20m of an existing Wayspot, and won’t appear.

You cannot amend it at all.
Has anyone had any "New" appeals processed since they reopened. My friend still has original appeal not processed so we were wondering
I’ve had a few done but have also had others In Voting (Niantic) for more than three weeks.
So fountains do not meet the eligibility criteria anymore?
While apartment and neighborhood signs typically aren’t eligible, the fountain, I think, should have pushed this into acceptability.

I finally have had an appeal reach a conclusion via appeal - submitted when they first opened, and 3 weeks roughly in Niantic review.
Its been approved - a nice piece of shutter art.
Although the appeals process has taken over 4 months, it’s a lot quicker than resubmitting it which without upgrade is over 2 years.
