Thank you for your feedback. To make sure it's not missed, please make sure to add it to each appropriate thread. You can find them linked in the main thread post. Most of the conversation about each top three goal is happening there.
Maybe im a cynical pessimist but what I got from the post is:
* Niantic asked ambassador to name what they think is the top three things on the minds of people doing wayfarer
* Group of ambassadors make a list
* Niantic say they will look at those 3 things and ignore everything else
* Going by previous posts and countless still broken things (hello new photo syncs?) It's 50/50 if even any of the this 3 will get resolved, yet alone things not in the top 3
If it's anything like the ambassador system it might end up being top 2 and we get told 3 was just a random number thrown out and doesn't matter ;)
It's as if none of Niantic read the forum's and understand what's going on. Maybe an employee doing that, like a forum moderator, would be be well placed to pass that feedback.
While these are 3 specific areas that we collectively decided to focus on, they are absolutely not the only things on our minds. There are a number of other issues being raised and discussed among the Ambassadors which hopefully can lead to some resolutions.
I think that as this is the start of the contributions by the ambassadors and what they might do we should focus on that and at this point and contribute ideas and points and not worry about other aspects as their time is a limited resource.
Its an experimental phase so let’s see how it goes and then look back to learn from it.
Well, whoever posted the initial "3 points", it's certainly spawned some interesting and sensible discussions. The challenge will be to see if anything that comes out of it can actually be implemented by Niantic with regards to Wayfarer.
It is resolved though, as far as Wayfarer is concerned. This isn't the place to discuss it, that's the resolution to it. The fact that each time they post it the majority of people disagree with the post should give them enough information to know that posting it is pointless because this isn't the right place to post it in the first place.
It's like going to the fire department and complaining they're not arresting enough criminals. It's simply not their responsibility.
Those sound great, for the criteria clarification I hope you remove the “Popular” for restaurants and swap it for “Local”. Popularity is subjective and when I provide details on it like awards or Google reviews in the supporting photos it causes them to get rejected for Third Party Picture or Title Description.
Locally owned/operated restaurants are great places to explore and removing the popularity requirement would help get more in.
Can't give much feedback at this time, but we are actively reviewing discussions in those threads and having the conversation in other communities, as well. I posted a little but am trying to let the community guide the conversations rather than project my own direction.
Noted! But I'm not sure "local" is any better than "popular." Both end up falling flat as buzzwords. Rejected places that you know are eligible getting rejected sucks, there's no way to sugar coat that. Until more guidance can be established, the only option is to continue trying to improve, be active in your community and encourage understanding of eligibility, and appeal when necessary.
So many rural nominations get rejected immediately because it’s “next to a farm” but on public areas like walking trails. Because it’s rural there are not sidewalks, but too many people don’t bother reading the actual clarifications outside the description. I wouldn’t include “This is a public walkway not private land” in the way spot description so it goes unnoticed.
I think a big problem is people form opinions off pictures and ignore the explanation. And it seems there are a large number of elitists in neighboring cities who ONLY nominate exercise areas or parks. The social and exploration aspect of rural, or newly built areas are so much more difficult for people to accept.
One set of standards would be nice. Either it applies evenly over the board or it doesn’t. Such as my recent rejection of a Welcome or town sign. No sidewalk? Are all Pokestops now required to have “sidewalks” under them? 🤨 Sorry, there aren’t a lot of “Starbucks” out in the sticks. Allow some of the far from Townies their pokestops too. Elitist is showing.
While you would think adding that extra information would help, it usually goes against you because of the mentality of many Wayfarers.
Some see the word farm/school and instantly reject even if you are saying it's NOT a farm or school or just that it's next to one.
Others seem to reject when they think someone is trying too hard to explain its not those things or has safe access, either because they think the person is lying or whatever.
You just have to roll the dice and hope you get the right people voting on your nominations each time
It's been 3 months. Anything new to share? There have been quite some good ideas voiced by the community members, have you tried implementing some of them?
It was said that they didn’t get around to a suitable way of Incentivising Wayfarer so I wonder how that’ll be handled in 2023, and what new goals may be set.
Could one of the new goals for 2023, be that Ambassadors look at ways of incentivising clearing up the map of low quality Wayspots that should have never been approved?

and yes, several of us are active here.
Given that this is a voluntary role, I would expect that they are allowed to not do anything that they might not like/want/can/etc...
The post sounds like it is supposed to be written by the ambassadors, I do kind of wish they could have posted it. Maybe that’s not allowed though.

This will get old once the issue gets resolved.

Hello Ambassadors,
You started several threads for discussion of specific topics you wanted to explore. This was a new idea.
How has it gone?
What are your takeaways from the discussions?
Basically just some feedback please.

If only you will all let me sneak into the meeting this time, I’ll report back here with some updates. 🕵️
@Gendgi-Ambo
Thanks well it sounds as though it is meeting some of your expectations.
@PkmnTrainerJ-ING 😂
Is there an electronic version of someone bringing in the coffee and cake/biscuits and hanging around 😂
It’s called “Taking minutes of the meeting”. That’s how you get into higher up meetings sneakily.

¿Cuándo van ha mejorar esta situación?

Those welcome signs aren't inherently eligible anyway. The lack of pavement isn't the actual issue there.

Now that we are doing the Indonesia Challenge, that seems to satisfy the Supporting Rural Communities goal that the Ambassadors set so;
Supporting Rural Communities - https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/40251/global-reviewer-challenge-indonesia#latest ☑️
Wayfarer Criteria Clarification - https://community.wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/discussion/35560/wayfarer-criteria-challenge#latest ☑️ (However you still need to add it on the website @NianticTintino-ING if you remember)
