Mountain huts ineligible?
An appealed nomination of mine for a mountain hut was rejected by Niantic due to ineligibility. In my opinion, a mountain hut may be one of the best examples of Wayspots that encourage exploration. This one even has its own Wikipedia article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rifugio_Sanremo), is the highest of the region and is managed by the Italian Alpine Club.

I would accept for socializing and exercise (and probably exploration too). I wonder if appeals run into problems when the submissions aren't in English? It can also be cultural. Maybe Niantic staff aren't familiar with mountain huts? It would be interesting to see statistics of appeal success by submission language and region when they finally do their analysis. Did you provide your appeal reason in English or Italian?
Another thought, is it possible Niantic also rejected for "mismatched location" but then used their cut-and-paste criteria response? Is it easy to locate on Google Maps?
Thanks for the suggestions! I think that neither of these is the problem, I wrote the appeal text in English and there is Streetview imagery in the area (https://goo.gl/maps/UkLX3ubzSFvUAVmb9), in fact I was totally expecting an easy approval.
My reject was also given mismatched location, the other reason was temporary.
It is a brick mosaic so different coloured bricks from when it was built in 1877 so not exactly temporary. And as it is large on an end wall, the location can be seen from various angles for quite a distance. I included info on the History, and one of the reasons I’m sanguine about the reject is that it is fairly simplistic. But the reject reasons are a nonsense.
I would have expected an easy accept as well, both by reviewers and Niantic. I hope they look more closely at their process for evaluating appeals that aren't in English. There's a post in General Discussion right now of a rejected appeal that also may have been hurt due to it not being in English. Maybe Niantic just has an intern or two that realized they could get more "done" by rejecting with a generic cut-and-paste statement everything that requires more than just a glance.
This might be the best nomination I have ever seen rejected. It is clearly visible on street view, and the Wikipedia page clearly lays out its uniqueness and relevance to the criteria. I’m assuming you had the Wikipedia link in the supporting, right?
I haven't found the post you mentioned, can you please link it? Or, @NianticGiffard @NianticTintino can this be examined more carefully please? I don't even know when or if I will get back to that place, but the whole appeal process becomes worrisome if something like this is rejected.

@NianticGiffard can you ask or care to comment on the complete cluster muck that appeals appears to have become.
Which numpty decided this doesn't meet criteria. Perhaps if there was a dog waste bin as well they would have been happy to accept it.
Hi all! We have given it another look and decided to overturn our decision.
Does that mean we can reappeal our rejected appeals?
Glad to hear this outcome for this submission.
it does raise in my mind not only @patsufredo-PGO query, but other ones about what feedback has been given to the reviewers to help improve understanding.
Have they been able to consider what they missed and why.
Is there a quality control system in place to maybe randomly sample or have review patterns given a second look?
@NianticGiffard It would be very nice if Niantic would take a look at all the wrong reviews and not just a few!
I mean specifically bike paths, clubhouses and or local monuments!
Tough spot for Niantic.
This nomination obviously should have been approved… I mean, it should have been approved by voters the first time, it definitely should have been approved by Niantic on first review. Now Giffard steps in to right a pretty glaring error, and gets rewarded with a bombardment of others wanting him to personally review their own rejections. No good deed and whatnot.
