Is it possible to refund upgrades?

I have been reviewing pretty much everyday for the past week or so and was hoping to have my upgrade next poi getting processed, however the system just randomly applied it and ignored the upgrade next choice that I made.
When I checked the bugs section it said that there was no upgrade next anymore and it doesn't exist... ****. If that is the case then the whole upgrade next tag should've been removed from display too.
Why couldn't they just leave the auto-apply settings off or at least provide an explanation on the new upgrade system. Now I have wasted my upgrade on a POI that I would have never spent it on.
Is there some sort of mod I can talk to about this? 😡

Get in line - LOTS of people are upset about this. But it is working as Niantic intended. It happened last week when they added the "Automatically Apply Upgrades" switch.
From https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/settings, "Automatically Apply Upgrades" values are
One idea "fix" is to set the switch to OFF, and set everything In Queue to On Hold. Then you can release what you want upgraded, and upgrade it yourself. Or, if you want one In Voting upgraded, work it until that's the oldest, THEN set the switch to ON and let Niantic upgrade it.
No, you won't get a "refund" of your upgrade. You are expected to keep up with the current behavior.
@TheFarix-PGO Expected to keep up with the current behavior despite Niantic's profound inability to communicate it to us.
Niantic’s refusal to communicate with us
Small correction. At present it goes to your oldest nomination which is In Queue. It will do In Voting as well, when they update it in June.
But technically we could sue Niantic to get the refunds.
I mean we are expending our personal time doing work for them (reviews), so there is clearly ground for taking it to the court.
I'm sorry you lost your upgrade. This happened to me last year as well and it feels like trash. I have my "Automatically Apply Upgrades" setting toggled off, and when there are updates that doesn't seem to auto-revert if that's any consolation (though I know it's not). At least it seems to be a set-it-and-forget-it situation, which means you don't also have put everything on hold manually which sounds like a nightmare.
