Wayspot Improvement Ideas

Hi guys, do you have any suggestion to improve on the nomination?

1) I could kind of get the “face” rejection (Even though no faces are visible at all).

2) I got “Person” as a rejection reason too, but I’m not focusing on the people. I’m focusing on the jogging track. Not a big deal. I could retake the photos when no one is using the track.

3) The “Location Inappropriate” reason is weird, seeing there are plenty of space around the jogging track that the players could be on while playing the game. They wouldn’t be interfering with anyone using the track. This can be seen in my supporting photo (Third picture).

4) Not sure what “Other Rejection Criteria” the reviewers gave.

5) However, the natural feature part doesn’t really make sense. The area exists only after the hill has been terraced, and the cycling and jogging path is obviously man-made and tarred. The not natural features are the trees and grass beside the cycling and jogging path.

There isn’t a sign that indicates the name of the track in this area. The only signs that are here are a generic municipal council park guidelines signage, a parking sign, and a no littering sign.

It will be hard to get this accepted without some sort of sign. Do any of the signs you mentioned list the track name? (Even if they are just rules, etc.)

A remote shot is if there is an obvious entrance to the trail, with some physical anchor like a gate. That is not an easy pass either, though.

If none of the above, you can try an appeal. Imho, this will never make it through reviewers without a sign or marker of some type.

All the signs do not mention the place by name.

That's too bad. Is there an obvious trail entrance?

The "track" has a metal fence like is seen on roads for cars. How can the reviewer tell this is only for hikers? I agree with the others: without a sign, this will be a hard sell.

Is the last picture an amphitheater? Drainage pond? It looks sculpted, and I think I'd guess it's for rainwater - that's common infrastructure. But based on the people, it does look like a place to be social... but you'll need to get there early for a picture without the people, as primary picture. I wouldn't want to hang around a retention pond, because they grow mosquitoes. So this whole thing is confusing to me.

There is an obvious entrance to the track, but it isn’t marked with the name of the track. The only place that mention the track’s name are Google Map listing and articles promoting the area.

The guard rails are there as there are cyclist who are using the track as well. The area is terraced and there are deep drains going towards a water retention pond, so the guard rails serves to protect the track users and visitors.

There is no amphitheater here. The benches are just for the users to take a rest and sunset viewing.

Honestly I still don't see it being accepted, but that photo with all the people in it would be a good supporting photo for evidence if you wanted to nominate the benches as a specific sunset viewing point.

Also, links to those articles you mentioned earlier.

Any chance the poster in this article is still posted at the gate or somewhere else?

Can’t recall seeing the banner, but it looks flimsy and temporary. I could try again with that if it’s still there, and another with the benches.

    Thanks guy for the help!

If you want to try one more time, I would use the entrance even if there's no sign. Your submission needs an "anchor". I've seen trail entrances approved without name signs. You can point people to the articles in your supporting info so they can see the track exists. It still might not pass, but you have a better chance of your appeal succeeding as well with a clear anchor.

Also, as few people as possible in the main picture (none is the best number), but definitely no faces. You'll need all the votes you can get, so you don't want to lose points for having people.

Finally, if you can't see the track entrance in Streetview, make a photosphere. That way you won't lose points for location.

Thanks for the suggestions. Someone else managed to get a wayspot there with just a generic notice board of the park’s rules and regulations.

OK, so the reason people are telling you to find a sign is that you need some permanent object to tie the POI to. Right now you've just picked some random spot along the trail. I completely agree that this is a good place to exercise and probably even socialize. But people need to know how to find the distinct POI in order to interact with it. Though benches are often rejected, this is a perfect example of how a bench can be used as a proxy for a trail marker. In this case, the bench also marks the "scenic overlook."

You just have to write the nomination really well. Reviewers in your area still have to pay attention and think, though, which too many don't want to do.

    Hi @SirKen01-PGO

Like @SeaprincessHNB-PGO said@Seabound-ING you could maybe use the benches as an anchor point.

It's marked as a scenic viewpoint and seems to be pretty popular as a place to gather, socialize and watch the sunsets.

You could potentially get a picture from just behind the bench with a sunset view.

Maybe find more things like this to support your reason for nominating

    says.com/my/lifestyle/this-hillside-with-kl-skyline-and-sunset-views-is-going-viral

It would probably still be a hard sell but could go through if you focus on socialising and viewpoint rather than the track.

The benches might work as an anchor. For a gather.

If you want the trail itself, you could try the intersection of the trail and the wall/where the trail goes down tot hat lower level, title it "Intersection of " or "Trail entrance to lower area" which is what it looks like in your photo. If going for intersection get a closer up of the intersection and use your supplemental to show
