Thank you for clearing out the announcements

To whoever cleaned out the announcements, thank you! It's nice to be able to find active discussions without having to scroll past all of the ancient stuff.

Now we just need a pinned discussion about the fact that pinned discussions have been unpinned 😅
I'm grateful for it though!

Earlier today I sent out some tweets to some Niantic employees about the ridiculous situation with the announcements and got responses back from Niantic's COO Megan Quinn as well as Thia from the Ingress team, both of whom said they would follow up on it. About an hour and a half later, the pins were gone.
It was pretty clear that this wasn't fixed before now because the Wayfarer team just didn't know how to do it, and they didn't want to ask for help from the other forum teams that clearly do know how. The Wayfarer team realized it was a problem months ago when it was brought up and they stopped making new pins, but never took the time to actually resolve the issue of getting rid of the older ones. Its shameful that it took so long for such a quick fix.
So yeah, you're welcome.
Thank you, @AisforAndis-ING.
I refreshed the page several times thinking something was wrong 😂😂😂🤪
But a big thank you
You know you could have personally unpinned those yourself right?
Many Wayforum regulars, in fact, did not know that. It also made it very uninviting for first-time users.
When a new person is starting to get into Wayfarer and they go to Niantic's official page, it gives an imagine of inactivity to see pinned massages about events and news over at year old.
Dismissing the posts doesn't just unpin them, it makes those threads permanently invisible to you, which is problematic if you would like to continue to read new comments as they come, but not have to scroll past them every time you want to get to active threads.
Also, whenever you get logged out, they will appear again. Or if you go to the page on another device, etc.
