Why must we go to these lengths to get things done?...

As some of you may have noticed... The Forum is finally readable again!!! No more outdated useless pins!!!
Now this was no mere coincidence... this action was done because @AisforAndis-ING decided to make a sequence of tweets that finally led to something being done.
These tweets actually got some replies from Nia Employees...
My question to @NianticTintino-ING and the team... why must someone go to the lengths to get something resolved? We waited numerous months... made countless posts, bug reports, even memes... yet nothing was done, just empty promises like always.
Months and months of waiting... but make a couple of tweets... tag a few people... and the issue is resolved in less than an hour!!!
What pressing issues should we tweet about next?

And here I thought it was following through from a request during an Ambassador meeting several months ago 🥲
You're welcome.
It was pretty clear that this wasn't fixed before now because the Wayfarer team just didn't know how to unpin these posts, and they didn't want to ask for help from the other forum teams that clearly do know how. The Wayfarer team realized it was a problem months ago when it was brought up and they stopped making new pins, but never took the time to actually resolve the issue of getting rid of the older ones. Its shameful that it took so long for such a quick fix.
The word on the street is that this problem occurred because the Wayfarer team was dismissing the announcement posts instead of unpinning them, meaning they were making the posts invisible to themselves but not to us... But this also means that they were not seeing any of the threads or the continued community feedback within them. That is a whole other can of worms, if true.
There really is no excuse for this. I don't expect the Wayfarer team to respond, I just hope they actually read this and realize they need to do better.

The 2-mile pin move exploit is at the top of my list. We were promised that this exploit would be re-prioritized in the April AMA. Its been nearly 3 months and nothing has changed. This should be a simple fix of changing the internal value in how far people can move a pin during review. Once again, there is no excuse for how long this fix is taking.
whatever happened to anything? The forum looked cluttered, there are no more appeals in Niantic Queue on my account, there were no real updates and no information - Niantic Servants did only seldom post or answer anything -
Thank you for coming back to Wayfarer! We missed you guys @Niantic
Thank you for making me visit the forums again - they were so cluttered that i didnt take the time to scroll thru outdated stuff and useless posts by the several minions that have made it their choice of living to idle in these forums.
Thank you for the upcoming things that might make me use wayfarer again!
Well done @AisforAndis-ING This is a perfect encapsulation on so many levels of how to Niantic things :D
Thanks for the tweets. Weird how well social media pressure works on Niantic, along with the whole #HearUsNiantic thing too.
Niantic surely has heard us. Sadly they decided to follow their own idea.
Glad it worked this time. So when this was surfaced in the community and then also surfaced by @Gendgi-PGO in one of our meetings I addressed it..... but as we recently found out the changes were only applied to my account as shown below.
Since I rarely log out or log-in through the Wayfarer website, I realized I never saw the view from a non-admin side. So, I never saw the view that @AisforAndis-ING posted:
I followed a different method this time and glad to see it was applied across all accounts and not my own. Glad it's better for y'all now :)
And the lesson to learn is always put yourself in the users shoes.
Wait... you didn't check what the forums looked like for non-admin users until just this last week? Yikes.
Also, what did you even think when people have been complaining about the pinned posts for months? Did you think they were just making it up?
Honestly this explanation just raises more questions for me.
Should we start Tweeting other areas of Niantic to let them know that abusers who get banned in Wayfarer can still submit edits and nominations in their preferred games?
Oh, I know what we should tweet about next, a thread being g opened to suggest improvements or additions we want on wayfarer in general ...... of course that would all be ignored, but it would be fun to see
Guys, we all know the answer to your question. Just take this as an example on what happens behind the rainbow. there isnt a box of gold.
Thank you @AisforAndis-ING !!!
But maybe the success made you a little dizzy...

Three months! I'm still waiting for a promise from 20 months ago:
With the updated criteria, there was a promise to rereview previously rejected nominations that may meet the updated requirements. How will that work?
While this is a big effort, we are already working on reviewing past rejections starting with the Generic Business category.
They're not even prioritizing Appeals from before the requirement updates (altho people shouldn't have to use their limited appeals on them at all.)
Oh I'm right there with you, there are plenty of things they have promised that need to come to fruition. The reason I suggested the 2-mile pin move exploit as an example is because similar to the announcements issue, it should be an extremely quick and easy thing to fix. While yes, they should have honored the promise you mentioned years ago, admittedly that is something that would take a lot more time, effort, and manpower to complete.
There are large parts of Wayfarer itself that are unclear to the "recent" wayfarer team.
I always notice that they do not want to talk about things they dont fully understand / and / or are details that are "secret".
These large areas are broken, and wont be fixed, because, well, the people that implemented stuff are already gone, and the "new kids on the block" have not had their cereal yet and need some more summers on the green grass.
This would require way more work than simply someone telling the forum admin how to unpin posts, and thus could not be spurred into happening the same way.
I think this is the only explanation for how unable they are to actually change anything and how much breaks every time they do. The whole system is just coasting with nobody at the wheel who really knows how to operate it.
I can’t guarantee there’s an invisible “toggle switch” that allows access to Wayfarer via game apps, but there’s definitely an invisible “toggle switch” that allows access to Wayfarer via game apps. I bet it would take very nearly three minutes of coding to connect a Wayfarer ban with that switch.
But you are correct, that actually typing a few lines of code isn’t accessible to any run-of-the-mill Niantic employee like walking over to someone’s desk and showing them how existing forum tools work.
exactly. there are still large parts in an nearby "Area" that bring up odd submissions from someone that died 2 years ago. His contributions were rather bizarre and with dark pictures at night. Still, we do get them in review.
These block out every attempt to have a good contribution getting into voting and into a resolve.
Seems noone at Niantic knows how to deal with these "floaters" in the database that block the system.
@AisforAndis-ING , what a man you are. Thank you for moderating the forum the way it should have been done.
