One month ago I submitted 2 wayspots and both are sitting "in Voting". i used an upgrade on 1 of them and still no movement. Is this normal?

As confusing as it sounds, the answer is both 'Yes' and 'No'.
There are some areas where Wayfarers - those who are active in reviewing nominations - are quite prevalent and quite active. In these cases, nominations can move from 'In Queue' to 'In Voting' to either 'Accepted' or 'Not Accepted' pretty quickly.
For my own area I've had a nomination, admittedly one where I'd 'Upgraded' it, move from my first submitting it to being 'Accepted' in approximately twelve days. However, that's considered very fast compared to what might be the norm.
Others, even today, have had nominations still in the 'In Voting' stage for what they've reported to be going on to two plus years. As you can understand they're not happy about that.
From what we can understand the reason can stem from multiple causes. Here's a couple:
The 'Upgrade' should help, as it puts the nomination before a wider range of Wayfarers/Reviewers. But it can still take time. It depends on how many Wayfarers cover the area of your nomination; and how active they are.
I hope this helps.
Yes, very normal.
My oldest "In Voting" is from March 30, 2022.
My oldest "In Queue" is from October 2, 2021.
We can review other people's nominations to get upgrades to our own nominations. However, I've submitted too many for it to be feasible to upgrade every nomination. It takes 160-200 reviews to get the 100 agreements needed to earn an upgrade.
My oldest "In Queue" with an upgrade is two days old.
Thanks. Frustrating indeed. Good to know. I consider my area higher volumn, large city. Hopefully people here are not just submitting and doing some reviewing. Update should come to send reviews that are X days old out to the more popular reviewers to keep it fair.
Have you actually used an upgrade, or have you just enabled "upgrade next"?
Great question. I thought by hitting upgrade it would upgrade it. All it says is "In Voting" "Upgrade Next". Is there a difference?
Yes; you need to get 100 agreements reviewing to earn an upgrade. Once you earn that upgrade, you can manually apply it to a submission or have it automatically applied and that submission will be given the status of "Upgraded". But until it is actually upgraded, it won't receive expedited treatment.
Got it! Thanks :). I thought they were 1 in the same. I hit Upgrade now :).
And welcome to the frustrating, aggravating and sometimes rewarding world of Wayspot nomination reviewing, @CaptainC3621-PGO .
If you stick around you're going to find out just how non-sensical nominations can sometimes be. Some of my own recent thoughts while reviewing:
Heh! :)
for me nothing happens now since early this year, everything is frozen, last submission still in voting from last years december... a submission that is upgraded from feb this year is also frozen.. what is going on ???
if upgrade doesnt speed things up then what it the point ?
and i dont live somewhere remote, in southern sweden close to copenhagen so there should be plenty of reviewers within a few hundred miles of radius u think.....
i can only asume majority that votes in have stopped otherwise i dont understand the long wait
The upgrade not progressing does not sound right at all.
Have you tried support chat?
or post in the report a bug thread.
2 of your old nominations were upgraded and neither are decisioned over 6 months later? That's odd. Similar to Captain's issue above, are you sure it's actually upgraded? Do the nominations actually show as "upgraded" when you view them in wayfarer?
I've had some in voting for almost 2 years. Wish NIA would prioritize those to clear them out.
The system relies on humans to review it.
If it's a confusing or boring nomination, and/or in a low populated area with fewer reviewers, then people may be skipping it when reviewing and/or its not getting reviewed very quickly.
I will say Im seeing more and more random review locstions from all across the US, so hopefully that means they are starting to remedy that.
Things move much more slowly in highly populated areas than lower populated areas regardless of how eligible they are.
Yes look above, its in que and upgraded, still havent moved..... system broken...
That's not upgraded, not broken system, working as intended.
@mortuus-ING
Translation shows that as upgrade soonest or upgrade next
This what I see for one in queue
i could be wrong but I don’t think upgrade next is not working properly.
On your profile it will say if you have an upgrade available
i currently don’t have one available
But the wheel on my profile shows I’m at 29% towards getting the next upgrade.
I have switched off that upgrade being automatically applied in settings.
So once I get the upgrade I can click the upgrade button ( not the upgrade next one) and normally it moves from in queue to voting quickly ( There is random delay of a few days from when something is originally submitted before it can go into voting, but as those that I apply upgrades to have been there awhile it goes quickly)
its upgraded, whats the point spending to upgrade next in que if nothing moves ? this is broken system not a working one....
So, now it's a week since your original post, and you STILL haven't earned 100 agreements to move your "Upgrade Next" to "Upgraded"?
@mortuus-ING please just read this to understand the system, it's getting silly: https://wayfarer.nianticlabs.com/new/help/agreements--upgrades
