Stops in Gated areas

I have seen stops approved and currently running inside gated areas, such as appartement areas where you need a code or a key to get to.
Both playgrounds, wall art, rest spots, bbq areas etc etc...
Are these actually rightfully approved stops ?
Since it limits the access for pedestrians i don´t think they should be allowed.
Can they be removed remotely or do you need access to it ?

This is a FAQ. We have repeatedly asked the powers that be at Niantic to finally and definitively include this specific information in the Wayfarer site proper. But as of yet nobody, not NianticCasey, not @NianticTintino-ING not @NianticGiffard and not anybody else has seen fit.
That minor rant out of the way, the answer is a definitive YES.
Neither locked gates nor entrance fees exclude such locations from being allowed, so long as
They are perfectly valid. Wayspots don't need to be accessible by everyone, nor do they need to be accessible 24/7.
So long as they don't meet the rejection criteria (such as being on the grounds of a single family dwelling or school), and they have safe pedestrian access for those who are allowed to be in the location, then they are acceptable.
so by that reasoning if 2 families share 1 appartement a stop is allowed if there is an actual POI ? since it´s not privat but closed of to the public ?
Your comment or niantic does not account for any numbers other than 1 private owner.
1 Apartment = 1 residence - does not matter how many families live there.
Apologies if this is not what you mean but you seem to be getting muddled over PRP in the context of gated communities
For PRP
First it’s not about the number of families. It’s about the building.
The idea is to distinguish between an individual home (probably with some private outside space) so this covers everything from an individual building through to a line of buildings that are attached. 2 photos which are all PRP -
An apartment or flat tends to be in a large building made up of multiple homes. This building is not PRP. There will be communal areas to reach the apartments.
It doesn’t matter if there are gates to get through to the individual homes or apartments. They are still accessible to people. In other words the gates are not relevant. The POI still have to meet normal guidelines. So a small communal play area is fine.
well meant building but ok... there are some houses ( not that large ) that are actually 2 - 4 apartments.
There is also the issue with paired housing... 1 house split into 2 with a shared yard ( much like larger ones ) but more luxurious.
Criteria there would be the same since there is no guidelines that says " a minimum of " residents or apartments.
I'm glad you took the time to ask. I just had a really nice little gathering area in the common area of a multi-family residential complex rejected as "PRP" after approximately five minutes of voting, even thought it was clear in the title, description, supplementary info and google maps that it's an apartment complex.
Don´t worry. Here it´s gonna happen 9 out of 10 times... just resubmit and hope for the best
Would people say
Would you say that this logic also applies to military bases? I see a lot of nominations that are located on those.
Yes it does, if its open to residents and guests on military bases it is also eligible. Same idea as gated communities.

I had started typing that since you mention military bases @TrevorAlan-PGO will pop up to answer 😂😂😂
Lmao
I am not a robot. Promise. 🤖
Cool, thanks. So the basic idea is just that it needs to be some kind of common area for those that have the right to go on post, and not a restricted area. So playground near base housing=OK, live-fire range=Not OK.
I had a gazebo at a hotel rejected as PRP the other day. 🤷♂️ Reviewers get it wrong sometimes. If you know you’re right, refine and resubmit.
Sure. It wouldn't matter so much, except that submitting something in my area for normal voting means, in my experience so far, that it will never come up for review, so I have to use a hard won upgrade. It is what it is.
