Almost two years later after this AMA, has this “delightful suggestion” been looked in to?

Discussing this again with other Wayfarers and I recall there was a question about this on an AMA, almost two years ago.
Can PokéStop and Portal Nomination be shifted to ‘Wayspot nomination’ when interacting with Wayfarer in Ingress and Pokémon GO?
This is a delightful suggestion, this shift would better cement expectations for what a Wayfinder does--suggest interesting and unique points of interest in their local area for inclusion in the Niantic Wayfarer program--rather than reinforcing additions to an individual game. Definitely something we’ll look into.
I know this is when we had @NianticCasey-ING around and I don’t think all the things they wanted to implement were done, but as Wayfarers/Wayfinders (wait, which are we?) bring this up often, I wondered if almost two years on, there was any progress @NianticTintino ?

Hear hear!
The question that's asked ad nauseum in this and other forums is "Why didn't my stop show up after it was accepted?" Most of this could be addressed with a few text changes, and I'm flabbergasted that Niantic hasn't taken any real steps to address what is clearly a horrible customer experience.
This is the usual. The persons that wrote the lines is already circling elsewhere.
I doubt that any of those persons notes will ever be circled to anyone that is now actively working in the "Wayfarer Team", and i doubt that anyone has read everything that the predecessores wrote.
It doesn't seem like it would even be a difficult or time consuming thing to implement?
Meanwhile, bridges, trail markers, swimming pools and wayspots on hospital grounds are still causing confusion amongst reviewers...
Danbocat almost a whole year later also said this:
Agree, I am looking into whether we can change the language the PGO nomination flow to make it more clear to the submitter what database it's being submitted to.
Right now, Wayfarer is a ship with no captain. Look at me.
Few more days until we get to a year with no action on this idea.
Not just a ship without a captain, a wreck with just a parrot 🦜
I'm as confident that this will never happen as I am we'll never be told why.
But if you think of it from an IP and ownership of the app stance, TPC has little obvious reason to remove their branding from game to promote the Niantic Lightship database and Niantic has little reason to be too obvious that "PokéStop" nominations may be futile.
I also would not mind being wrong, here. I wish they would use more clear branding throughout the process, but I'm not sure it would really help, do you?
At this rate, the wording could even slightly change to what we want but that exact same message is already ingrained into every submitter's mind. It'll say "Submit wayspot" but people will think that they're being dyslexic and think it says "Pokestop" anyway.
To be honest most Go players don't particularly think about what they are adding and why should they. They play Go, they don't have much interest in Ingress, Pikmin, NBA, Wayfarererering. They want Stops full stop. Sure we can say as Wayfarer users that they should consider that it's Lightship, Niantic database and this wording or that wording etc etc.
They don't care and why should they :)
And sure you can say but Ingress players added these p0krrstopz if it wasn't for us... if it wasn't for you Niantic would have dumped a **** load of **** Wayspots like they do when they have no other options, have done many times before and most likely will again.
Instead of the "New Pokestop" button, change it to "New Wayspot". Then have the following explanation:
"Wayspots are real-world locations that may become Pokestops or Gyms."
For other games, just substitute "Pokestops or Gyms" with the relevant term. E.g. for Ingress:
"Wayspots are real-world locations that may become Portals."
I think you’re right that it’s a selling point for TPCi, the last app update even specifically mentions “PokéStop”
It's obvious language to use New Pokestop as most pogo players don't know what a Wayspot is and it will confuse some. Despite it not being totally accurate. Same with submit Portal in Ingress.
As someone else said it's in Niantics interest to keep it this way and not tell casual submitters they are generating a POI database for them to sell and use in other games, rather than just stops for that person's game.
Yeah it would stop a lot of confusion and forum threads asking where their newly accepted stop is but Niantic somewhere have either decided that it's better this way or just don't care to make the change.
Exactly. Niantic has lost many people by having a separate product instead of directly aiming at Pokemon Go players
I think the difference is that Ingress starts with “Nominations” where Pokémon GO starts with “New PokéStop”.
After that, it does say Portal, but I think even a change to say “Nominations” would help.
I think the wording should be changed from PokeStop or Portal to say POINT OF INTEREST instead of Wayspot. That wording gives the nominator a clue that the nomination should at least be interesting.
I like this one. I just realized that the word wayspot is not translated in niantic texts in my language, wayfarer too. I learned what it meant because of wayfaring.
The first time I heard the word was because of a Ed Sheeran song saying he was a poor wayfarer stranger xDD years ago but I didn't search what it meant then.
I believe point of interest would be easier to translate to other languages.
